I can't 'see' my friend's hosted game

A friend and I try to get a multiplayer game started, but we can't 'see' each other's game: when she hosts one, I can't see it, nor can she see the one hosted by me. Other players seem to be able to join in on a game hosted by either me or she.

Also, when we join in on a game hosted by someone else, we have no trouble getting into the game lobby, but when the host starts and goes to the game setup menu, one of us (most of the time, if not always, my friend) seems to be 'kicked out' by the program.

Some facts which may have influence:
She's behind a router, but all ports open
We use the same version: Conq 1.22
We see ping = '0' after each others name
She lives 2 blocks away from me
We did play some multiplayer games before with other people; no problems there
1 year ago we did manage to play a muliplayer game, but back then I lived somewhere else, and the both of us where behind routers...

Can someone help us out on this one, it's really getting frustrated...

Thanks!

Have you tried connecting by IP address?

Hit the IP Connect button and enter the IP address of your friend (if she is hosting), or vice versa. After doing so, you should be able to see the game.

If you do not know your IP address you can find out via windows. If you have windows ME or 2000, you can hit the start button, click "Run" and then type "winipcfg.sys"

For Windows XP, you must hit Start, Programs, Accessories and select Command Prompt. When that window pops up, type in "ipconfig" and hit enter. Doing either will give you your own IP address. Simply Host a game and send your IP number to the other party who will be joining, and they should be able to connect.

I had the same problem myself this past weekend and connecting via the IP address solved the problem. After doing it just once, we could all see the host game every time.

Thanks, but we tried it 3 times, but it didn't work. It kept trying to connect to the hosted game. Maybe we gave up to quick.

We'll give it another try, after she's back from holiday.
