Colossal Deity AI Snowball

I was hoping to try to use my navy to snipe some cities and distract Trung Trac long enough to make a play for victory, but just 7 turns in, her yields have already spiked back to their exploration levels. I mean should it even be possible for the human player to beat an AI like this? You'd hope a Deity AI would completely annihilate the player with such a huge advantage. I'm not sure that I care to play and find out.
War is probably the simplest way. If you kept warring in previous ages you can just steamroll AI forces with OP commanders. Navies are especially strong with splash damage perk.

On deity, my Confucius got to 1000 science so early into modern and got to the second science legacy around turn 60-70. I decided to put everything I had into building an army and airforce to stop him. In not sure where his wild yields were coming from, perhaps just a lot of specialists. He had a lot of wonders.

That's some nice yields.

*fiddles nervously with mouse looking at my own yields -T50 of Exploration 122 Science, 160 Culture, +215 gold, 125 happiness*

Are you so sure about this? Have you ever had a situation where you "almost destroyed the second AI city" and suddenly an army of 10-15 units of the strongest units at the moment emerges from the fog? This happens to me regularly. I destroy the AI army, I am already sure that's it, since there have been no reinforcements for several turns, on the next turn I run away, losing everything that was earned by honest work on the battlefield.
If the AI can "conjure" x10 modifier to culture, then why can't it gain 10K coins in a couple of turns?

The AI seems to buy/build a unit per turn in cities and towns that are under attack. But I haven't seen it coming at me with more than 5 units at a time, except in their first assault right after declaring war.

I haven't had an all-out war against a Deity AI and I was mostly peaceful this game, definitely a mistake on Chola but I did take a couple of coastal cities off Trung and end Exploration with a strong navy. Trung has been spamming wars and I suspect has a much stronger army and more promoted generals, although I have noticed the AI is terminally stupid at managing their own generals. I don't know what Siam's unique civics are but I'm sure she will pick up some pretty strong combat related civics much sooner than I will.

Maybe you should actually finish a game? Kinda strange to say you are ahead of them...this game doesn't work like the others.

When I go into the next age I'm still way ahead of them, more cities... more everything.... they will never catch up. In essence I won and no point in continuing.

You took the words out of my mouth.

I'm reading and wondering how on earth this dude had "three playthroughs" in 15 hours. It turns out that he just quits a few hours in and claims victory. This iteration of the game is not like the others.

That is exaclty right... first age and go into exploration and I'm way ahead of everyone... I had like twice the Legacy points of enyone else in the Ancient era and all of my resources are 50-100% better than everyone else. That means I can't loose and the challenge is gone.

I have played another two ancient runs and no point in continuing... I guess this game is a single age game for me. I will start in exploration age next time instead so at least I get to play in an interesting way there as well.

How about actually playing and see how that plays out? Maybe it will go how you think, maybe it won't. But economic victory for example isn't as simple as I have more money than you. Neither is cultural. You sound like you haven't even finished a game yet you think you know how easy or not something is. This is nothing like the other games.

Sure... I start the game like 50-100% stronger than everyone else and you think that will make the game less difficult?!?!

Just to prove it I resumed my last game and it just snowballed from there... I could basically just buy/build everything from day one as soon as I unlocked new buildings and wonders... I played like 40% of the exploration age and was even further ahead this time.

So yes... pointless to continue... just as I thought!!!!

So you completed one of the victories? Oh wait you said you played 40%. So once again you are claiming victory before you got one. So bizarre.

"Victory is so assured that I have yet to get a single victory"

You keep claiming to be ahead but have no metric since you haven't completed a game.

In my most recent game, I won via military victory. The final few turns, I just clicked through everything, thinking I had the world under my thumb. At the final rankings screen, I noticed that Napoleon had actually completed the economic path! I'm not sure how many turns it would have taken him to build the world bank, but it was possible to do so. I had seen the notifications and didn't think much of it.

I could have possibly lost despite thinking the win was almost assured for the final 30 turns.

Exactly my point. This guy is claiming victory based on yields I assume but in exploration age none of thr victories are based on yields. Treasure fleets are not easy. Many people actively go after them and still fail. Yet this guy is declaring he wins before he likely even sent his first. He is treating this like a previous civ when he should be going for victories in each age.

To be clear I am not claiming he won't win. But it's absurd to claim victory without having actually tried for them.

If it's so easy I would like to see a dual exploration age path completion, yet he doesn't claim to have gotten a single one.
