i civ3 fun??

If you see how cheap you can get it at the moment, you can't do too much wrong here. If you like the Civ series and want to see how it evolved you should definitely give it a try. It's maybe not as complex and multilayered as IV BTS - but it has a charm of it's own, and is certainly way better than the unfinished mess V is.

Better ask darski... :mischief:

I am so fed up with the crap in this game... I am the dumbest person on earth for not burning the game discs years ago.

I love the game more or less

gps is right, though... it's $5 all the time, and a couple times a year goes on sale for $1.24, with $2.50 on occasion, too. It's the same concept yet different than Civ4, but easy to get used to, which should be reason enough if you want to switch things up at some point.

If you are really thinking about buying Civ III, I wuold recommend looking for Civilization III Complete. You then get all the games in one package

yep its worth £5, its hardly state of the art but will work out as good value for money per minute played.

Right, it's the cheapest and most common way to get it. However there are "Complete" versions around that only install a playable version of "Conquests", relevant files for playing Vanilla or PtW are missing. Not quite sure what differentiation there is, but I think older 3 CD versions (for example the Civ Legacy box - or maybe the Sold-Out-Games package?) are likely to be really complete while newer one-DVD versions (Civ III / Civ IV Complete double pack) are Conquest-only.

Definitely worth it! I've played it since I was 10, and it's been one of my most favorite games for years!

This is a redundant and stupid question on so many levels.
Of course the answer is going to be "yes". This is an active forum of an 11 year old game.
How many searches did you do before you asked the question?
The "why" part of this question is answered a dozen times here.
Waste of time.

what local stores could i buy it at or just online one like Amazon or Ebay?

A few years back I saw it at Target.

Could be in Gamestop (used).

Based on what gps has said, look for this box to be sure you are getting CDs and not DVDs. The three CDs have all three versions (vanilla, Play The World and Conquests), fully patched and each one of them are playable.

is civ3 worth buying it?? if so or if not say why.:)

OK, in a nutshell. Civ3 Complete is a turn-based strategy game. It's got lots of complexity, and is almost endlessly replayable, because the map and the opponents are different every time. If you *like* turn-based strategy games ... you can start and stop whenever you want, and take as long as you want before pressing/clicking "end turn."

If you're looking for something fast-paced like real-time strategy (RTS), or that uses your reflexes like first-person shooter (FPS), then Civ3 will be disappointing.
