 I just don't feel comfortable and the astounding victory has left a somewhat bad taste in my mouth ... I'd also like to point out that Whomp was not whining during our chat, this stems purely from the letdown feeling I got after the buzz of victory has discipated.

The situation as the game enters Turn 169

KISS, due to an error in rule interpretation (they were going to swap some cities with Nuts and hence give their allies automatic access to our Continent) are no longer much of a threat. In fact due to the ruling arriving just after Whomp had his turn, the game has totally been altered.

If the ruling had come prior to the turn, Whomp would have totally played the game differently and razed many of the cities. I still don't know why he didn't wait, but I guess due to RL issues awoling much of the KISS key players and him feeling pressured to take the turn ... well what I'm getting at is that we won too easily and gained far too many bonuses.

I'm wondering if anyone else feels similar to me on this ???

Too easy the game has turned into a 2 team scenario. I was totally looking forward to a battle of strategies and wits. I was expecting it to be tough and for us to be sweating. I was expecting big decisions needing to be made and losses suffered.

In ONLY 2 turns we totally wiped KISS from our continent, the last turn with no casulties ... :nono: it just dosn't seem right to me. Don't get me wrong our strategy was sound and we deserved to ultimately win :salute: ... But this was way too easy ... I just cannot celebrate properly. It's like fishing with a machine gun ... or the false honour in fighting a drugged bull with blunted horns.

I'm a little sleep deprived (what a session :D ... had me buzzing) and am not articulating as well as I should be ... but I have to address this ...

I guess what I'm saying is that this victory was NOT due to us outplaying a rival :( ... which is how it should be (for me anyway) ... I'd much prefer to lose in a tough game than in this manner.

What to do ?!!
While I'm not suggesting that we propose to restart the game at some earlier point ... but I'd like to do something ... At this stage I don't really know what .... but it would have to be something that ALL remaining teams agree to.

Some thoughts ... stream of bibble babble from my addled brain
Perhaps KISS are immune to attack for a period of time from ALL teams.
We raze many of our captured towns ... but we can keep some because we won.
Maybe KISS get some gold.
KISS could get their workers back.
Perhaps the save can be altered by Rik and KISS can get a bonus.

I hope you can all see where I'm going with this ... I'd still like them to be in the game ... it just dosn't seem right that a once strong team lose in this manner ... I was looking forward to our next issue of the Gazette (I'm not now) because our gains have NOT been gotten by outsmarting or outplaying the rival.

Does anyone else have similar thoughts? ... or is it a case of bad luck guys you stuffed up.

I don't really understand the problem. When were they going to give cities to the Nuts? If they were waiting until next turn, then the same result would have happened. If they wanted to do it last turn, then they could have abandoned the towns last turn instead. They took 5 days to play the save. Based on how quickly the admins have always gotten back to us, I can't believe the admins were that slow with a ruling.

Regardless, what really would have happened differently? KISS would have abandoned towns. KISS would still be eliminated from the continent. We still would have suffered no casualties. We would have fewer corrupt towns right now, but we would still be in complete control of our continent, and KISS would still be out of the game. Let's face it, we won the war by outplaying our opponents - rules confusion or not, I don't see a significantly different result. Abandoning towns wouldn't exactly have helped KISS make the war difficult for us.

I agree with Chamnix on this one.

Another thing - if KISS really was wanting to give towns to Dnuts (a strategy I really don't understand, why would they give up some of their core to another team?), why would they assume the admins were going to go for it and leave their towns undefended for so long? Remember that the entire island was devoid of KISS troops (other than Senilityville) - it wasn't like they had just agreed to terms and were shipping their troops overseas. They apparently had moved their troops off the island.

Overall, they made a mistake. Their downfall cannot be attributed to anything the admins did or any dishonorable things. It can only be linked to mistakes on KISS's part, and our capitalizing on such mistakes.

In chess when your opponent leaves their queen open without realizing it, do you leave the queen or do you take it to gain the advantage? I certainly take it (unless of course I'm teaching the person how to play, then I point out the mistake and leave the queen - but if they do it again, I take it). KISS has a lot of experienced players on their team. They should know better than to leave their core undefended.

All valid points ... and of course we deserve everything we got :D

I guess I was just hoping for a greater challenge ... oh well ... onwards to greater things :salute:

I don't feel uncomfortable in the slightest. First of all, there was no need for KISS to play the save before the admins' ruling. Aside from Classical_Hero, everyone was very patient with them with their delay on t167. They could have asked for another delay - in fact, I'm surprised they didn't!

I dont' know if you've been paying attention to these threads lately, but I've been reading all about big decisions and seeing people sweat over them. We took a pretty big risk, and it payed off supremely. The fact we didn't suffer many losses says more about our opponent's readiness than a game ill-played.

... false honour in fighting a drugged bull with blunted horns
I disagree entirely with this. KISS was not handicapped in any way. You could make a leap, and say they were handicapped by playing before an admin ruling, but that was their choice. Additionally, I refer to Chamnix conclusion that razing cities or turning them over to DNUTs would not have alter the results. Face it: KISS miscalculated how many fast fast units and railroad gangs we had ready.

I guess what I'm saying is that this victory was NOT due to us outplaying a rival ... which is how it should be (for me anyway) ... I'd much prefer to lose in a tough game than in this manner.
This two-turn rout was certainly due to us out-playing KISS. How could it be any other way? They made some poor meta-game decisions, but don't forget that it was KISS themselves who made those choices. The admins did not force KISS to act in way that gave MIA an advantage, and that's the only scenario in which I'd entertain any reparations.

Face it: We did great, so stop feeling so guilty! :)

I guess the real reason ... now that I've woken up after the marathon of the last turn.

I don't want Nuts to use this as an excuse when we finally get around to paying them back for their sins

I don't feel uncomfortable at all. In fact I feel darn right good about the whole thing! :D

If you want a challenge then let's just wipe out the Nutters now and finish this game off so we can start another one.
