I don't understand the scoring.

I would like to ask a question about maximising score while going for domination. If you can't build the pyramids or capture them during the early part of the game is it worth continueing with HoF attempt?

I also tried an experiment to compare between RCP 3/3.5 and OCP on the same map and played up to 1500 BC on Monarch. At 1500BC OCP had netted me 15 more firaxis points than RCP. Are these early points worth the inefficiency of OCP?

If most other game aspects are going more or less to plan then I vote Yes. Its worked for me in the past.

There are lots of things to bring together in a HOF game, the pyramids are just one, albeit large, element. And while they do a very good job, they are not irreplaceable.

If you want to Maximise score while going for a Domination Win, you should use an Archipelago map because they give the HIGHEST Domination Limit......You can get 20% more tiles than say a Pangaea map.

AND, if you're on an Archipelago, Pyramids are NOT that important! :)

I think early on territory is far more important than population so you can secure the resources needed to conquer all else, including the Pyramids. For me, the location/timing of the Pyramids are one minor factor in my overall decision which is based largely on the map itself. I'm content to procure them during conquest, so long as I have them before milking...

IMHO, that's not neccessarily true. I think it depends entirely on the size of the island the Pyramids is built on, and whether or not you start on that island.

For example: My game with the Mayans on chieftain level was on an archipelago map but after I had rushed the Pyramids with an SGL in 1500BC or so, I slowly discovered that my archipelago map was actually one huge Pangaea... So it really depends on the size of the landmass, IMHO...

If I am not succesful in building the Pyramids myself, the AI who has it usually becomes no 1 on my 'to eliminate' list, provided I can get to him without bothering my expansion too much...

A valid point, but the Pyramids are still conditional on the landmass on archipelago. On pangaea, they're almost automatic.
