how do you get to use bonus resources?! Thanks. SOrry, i can't seem to find the anwser. And yes, i searched the fourms. Thanks for any help.

You don't "get" them, they just enhance production. All you need to do is place a civilian on one (tell him to work that square) and instead of no shields without roads or mining on a shield resource (the little shield on the grasslands) you'll get one shield. That's all, beside the boost in production on that square, they don't show up anywhere else. They're aren't like luxuries or strategic resources where you need to build a road to, they're just there. Hope that made an ounce of sense.

You can open the city display and then click on any terrain square that displays food, shields, and/or gold to convert that worker to a specialist. Then drag that specialist up from the lowe line of people heads to the square you want him/her to work.

A bigger choice here is to understand the choices made by the governor functions and to learn how to adjust these to get what you want and need. Many people should play with governor ON to "manage citizen moods" and then make the correct choices to emphasize food or production etc. You can activate the governor by pressing the G hotkey when the city display is up. There is a different governor for every city or town.

If you play with these settings and then click on the center of the city, the governor will rearrange the workers automatically to emphasize the things you choose.

Learning how to set the governor controls will save you hundreds of hours of game play time.

Sometimes it is not in your best interest to use a worker on a bonus resource square in every turn. Depending on the combinations of terrain and improvements as they match what you build, you can waste 10% of your food and production just be aiming at the wrong things at the wrong times. There is not an absolute best answer here, it is strategy dependent.

You can work the tile by using a worker. Simply place the worker over the tile you want to work and you will have the option of mining, irragating, or building a road. A mine will give you 1 more sheild from that tile. Irragating wil give you 1 extra food. And a road will give you 1 more gold along with a 1/3 movement bonus. Of course if you are in despotism any shield or food production over two and you will lose one shield or food respectfully(e.g. irragating a grassland would normally give you 3 food, but the fact that you are a despot would bring that down to 2 foods.)

Other people have answered a couple of different interpretations of your question, so let me cover another in case this is what you wanted to know:

If you have a resource bonus square in your territory, like horses or iron or whatever, in order for a city to have access to this resource to produce whatever requires it, you'll need to make a road connecting the resource square with whatever city you want to have it. Note that the resource 'travels' down your road network, so if you connect your resource to CityA, and CityA is connected to CityB and CityC, then all three cities can now build things requiring that resource.
