I hate scrolling!

As I said, everyone has his own play style.

true, but if one has a complaint about the game, is it not easier to slightly change that play style than it is to complain about something and be irritated by it until it's changed. it may never be changed. so why continue to be irritated by something when a slight modification in play style could easily quell your annoyance?

At least from my side it is a suggestion and not a complaint. It's a very minor issue for sure, but also one which could be "fixed" easily and make everbody happy.

But I wonder, if you queue up items, how do you react when the last item is built? Do you regularly check all cities for near-empty build queues or do you use the popup which, according to LlamaCat, should never be encountered by the professional player, to examine the city?

well as i mentioned up-thread, i'd not go so far as to say i never encounter the popup - and, frankly, it doesn't bother me when i do.

though, at least with military units, i have certain cities which produce my military units - and i queue up, say, 10 cavalry or 10 artillery or whatever at a time - and if i do need to modify it, i am reminded that i can do that buy having to do my promotions of these units once they've been completed.

i usually only queue crucial buildings in groups of 2 - 4.. you know, say, with a new city queue a granary and then a theater, adding on a lighthouse and a harbor if it's a sea city... that kind of thing - or i'll group together a couple of religious buildings in a queue - two temples and a monastary, for example... also, with markets banks and grocers - i might queue those one right after the other.

so, i guess, in fairness i do both. i had previously been thinking about military units, which i never want to scroll and select every 2-6 turns or whatever... i definitely mass queue them.

Like tiznoast here, I also queue up my military in batches of 2-10, especially in my military cities.

As for buildings, just like tiznoast here, I usually only queue them up at most 3 and sometimes 4, especially in newly conquered cities.

I think it's about time to seperate that popup menu into sections for units, buildings, and wonders, and have a quickbutton to scroll to the relevant section.

I see.

For war preparations I also queue sometimes but I guess I could try to use it for buildings too.

Was it in CtP that you could even save building queues?

You can save queues in civ 4 too. Think it's ctrl + 1-9 (dunno about 0) and 1-9 to load it.
