I hate volcanos

It saves automatically, automatically. I actually don't know how to turn it off. Look in your 'auto' subfolder. Vanilla had an autosave as well, but that only happened at the beginning of each age. Now its every turn, and the first turn.

Volcano damage can extend two squares out, I believe. The lava flow destroys the city entirely -- units, improvements and all.

I've never seen volcano damage extend two squares out and as far as I'm aware from my considerable knowledge of the game this is NOT the case.

I can't furnish screenies of it not happening  but maybe (since you've seen it) YOU can! :p

How do you make it save automatically each turn?

Hit ctrl + p to get to your preferences screen. Top left, there is a box to check on/off for auto saves.

'Si vis pacem, para bellum' what exactly does that mean?
I'm not completely certain but I think it is something like "If you want peace, prepare for war."

Last night the AI built a city right next to a volcano and claimed some iron about 2 turns before I got to there. I placed my city as close to his as I could so it would still claim the iron if my culture would overwhelm his. Two turns after I built my city, the volcano erupts and destroyed his city. :goodjob: Now the iron is mine. :D

I often build cities two squares away from volcanos to harvest their shields and never lost a city during an eruption.Guess there is only danger if you build directly beside a volcano.Really annoying the AI is to stupid to understand, so it means razing captured cties near volcanos for me (with the exception for industrial/modern ages; as eruptions are connected to time and not turns it is much more likely to experience eruptions in the middle or ancient age)

Some AI workers tryin to clean up a volcano got burnt to a crisp in my gam yesterday, bwhahahaha!!!

It's a common phrase taught in the Marines and Man of Miracles was correct. It means "If you want peace, prepare for war."

*edited* Sorry.

I just ordered C3C and trying to find out as much as I can before getting it, are there any bonuses or resorces found on volcanoes?

You can not mine volcanos.

You can not road/railroad volcanos.

In the city screen, you can work the volcano tile. It isn't much, but better than a stick in the eye.

What is a volcano tile worth?

IIRC, you get three shields (when not in Despotism) for working it.

any resources that are found on one?

Nope, and that's a good thing since you can't road them....

Thanks for all your help

That's right. No improvements whatsoever, although they do produce 3 shields.

IIRC volcanoes have a 1 in 800 chance of exploding each turn. I've seen volcanoes that never explode during the game, and I saw one that exploded 3 times in 7 turns. I have actually noticed that they seem to damage the same squares each time they erupt, but maybe that was just strange coincedences, or me just thinking that it was the same. I've even seen times when the volcano itself is polluted and none of the squares around it are. As for the warning, I've seen times when they give you up to 5 turns warning, and once a volcano exploded with no warning at all, but usually you get 2-3 turns warning.

One time, I saw the computer build next to a volcano, and the volcano erupted and the city was destroyed. Then I went back and saw that they had rebuilt in the exact same place. Stupid Americans. Unfortunately, it never exploded again.

The game saves the last six or so turns automatically. Look in the "Auto" folder and you will find the last six turns listed there.
