I just installed Civ IV.

I just installed Civ IV on a new computer I had to get while I wait for this guy to get around to extracting some files from my hard drive, if he ever gets around to doing it. I tried to install the latest patch, which is 1.74 I believe (we are talking vanilla civ by the way, I know right), and it gave me some error message. This is going to be a bit ridiculous but how do I go about doing this?

If its indeed a serious question, u need to put a bit more info (error message, OS, Sys spec, etc etc)

No, I just remember dealing with the Firaxis/2K whatever helpline for my dad when I was putting Civ IV on his computer and it being extremely annoying because you had to install specific patches in a certain order. For example I had to go back and uninstall the game because I put in a patch that I didn't need or something. So basically I am just asking if anybody knows the order of patching for Civ IV vanilla. That's it.

And yes, this is extremely embarassing.

Why do you not just install the addons too?
They'll automatically patch vanilla to the latest level.

just install the game normally from disc. be online when you start the game then choose update on the start menu (or options menu). no need to manually install.

I am not being very clear about this I think. When I installed it on my Dad's computer I had to install everything in a certain order for some reason, including Warlords and BtS. I am just asking if that is the case here (since I don't really remember specifically what happened) or am I mistaken?

And normally there shouldn't be a special needed order. Just install Vanilla, WL, BtS and 3.19, that works flawless in most cases.
