I miss the advisors...

"We should build barracks sir, unless you want the boys camping-out in your latrines?"

Or something to that effect anyway. I doubt my memory is as good as yours, but they were fun, all apart from those awful 'anarchy' pop-ups.

If they bring them back to Civ 5 they might even make them something really helpful, like "Sir, I'm worried about the Aztec, they seem to be preparing for war."

I always thought they added nothing to the game.
except a needed dose of camp humour.

I agree, they should be brought back for light relief, much as how Catherine in Civ 4 says something about "...a politician even I wouldn't sleep with!"

Yeah it would be great if they return! I also love them. But I would love more if there are special advisors for every civilization for example the japanese:

The japanese: The military advisor is a Samurai and the advisor for foreign affairs (the female of the 5) look like a Geisha and of course they have to be japanese. ;)

Thats more interesting if every civilization would have its own special 5 advisors which are really people from those civilizations. But I think that would be too expensive for the creators of the game and also 1996 Civ 2 was made it was just the time that much games tried to put some real actors and movie scenes into a game. Mostly ended in a flop but some of them were really good like Civ 2 or Command & Conquer.

I never really used them my self, apart from when i was younger. (been playing this game on and off for a long time).

I agree it would be nice if they where different for each Civ and offered more useful suggestions :p.

More useful than, "Would you defend our cities with haystacks, Noble Leader? Build city walls first and other improvements later!"?

I disagree...

Actually, I tried to figure if there WAS a way to defend my cities with haystacks!:p

Price-wise, I doubt it'd cost them anything. Only processing power and disk space.

I think you've got your answer right there. If the current trend in the Civ franchise is anything to go by, attention to detail appears to play second fiddle to gimmicky graphics and over-simplicity; I doubt they'd be willing to spend the programming time required on anything as involved as civ/situation specific advisors, imho. The processing power and disk space would most likely be eaten up by gaudy 3D interfaces.

Of course every actor wants a littlebit. Of course I don´t want that they use VIP actors like Tom Hanks etc. ;) But in my idea if they would use special actors for every civilization then it could be expensive. :(
