I Need A New Strategy

Hey, could some one make a REALLY COMPLETE straregy for me? I have a list of things I want...could some really good, smart player do this for me?

Ok, what I what in the strategy:
  • A list of techs. Takes me through the whole [of techs] list, step by step, what I should discover and when. I want every tech laid out for me.
  • A list of the wonders I should build. Went, where, and how.
  • A list of the improvements I should build.
  • A paragraph or two telling me what should be in my army for each era.
    and
  • A Battle Plan, when, where, and how.

Can some one do that for me? Please?

Thanx,
Xeven

One of the great things about Civ is that there is no ONE strategy you can follow each and every time.

Strategy is largely based on three factors:
Who you are playing (Human vs. Comp)
Difficulty Level
Size of Map

If you really want to know all the elements you are asking about, search the forums, believe me there are plenty of people with some great ideas.

Too much depends on chance factors for such a thing to be feasible. The if neighbors are friendly rather than warlike makes a huge difference, just for one example.

Some instant advice is possible, however. Go for Monarchy and the Pyramids as soon as possible. After that you're on your own

Hey, if you like I'll play the game for you too. All you'd need to do is hit 'enter' at the end to see your score!

I disagree <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/biggrin.gif" border=0> Go straight for republic: horse, alph, writing, code, lit, republic, then go to trade for rush buying all the wonders, first hanging gardens.

There are no guidelines <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0>

seriously, it all depends on wheather it is 2x2x or 1x1x, difficulty level, map size.

woke23 sez:

I also go straight to republic; I meant to offer a simpler strategy.

Why rush buy wonders (at 4 gold per shield)? It's cheaper to rush caravans, then use caravans to build wonder.

There are to many variables to establish a single strategy. The most important variable of all is your prefered playing style. The order of tech and what you build will be quite different if your style is kill kill kill, or if it is peaceful co-existance and win by getting to Alpha Centauri.

there is no such thing as a set startegy. As everyone points out, there are too many variables.

The great thing about the players at the forum here is that we have a base knowledge of the game and we can adapt our stratagy for the situation we are in, frankly because we have to.

A plan might be a nice idea in theory, but what if you start on an Island instead of a rolling Pangaeic continent of grassland?

The best advice is that given by the Duke - there is plent yof good advice here in the forum, and plenty of people who play to boucne ideas off.

Good gaming!

Hi xeven, I am Alec.

1. I recommend you begin with Alphabet, and try to reach stealth before the end of the game. Your goal is to reach Future Tech 255 as soon as possible so you can raise your taxes.

2. The most desirable wonders are usually the Pyramids, Hanging Gradens, Colossus, The Great Wall, Oracle, Marco Polo, and the Lighthouse. In the next age, you should obtain at least SunTzu's Academy, Michelangelo's Chapel, JS Bach, Shakespeare, Magellan, and the excellent King Richard's Crusade. If you have done this before 1 AD you are doing well. This is where you can take a quick breather. Next, you should try and get at least Statue of Liberty, Adam Smith, Darwin's Voyage, Isac Newton's College, Leonardo's Workshop. In the modern are, be sure to get Women's Sufferage, United Nations, Cure For Cancer, Hoover Dam, Manhattan Project, Apollo, and SETI. If you do this, you will have maximum flexibility to pursue almost any contingency that arises. Any of the may other Wonder (Eiffel Tower) can be constructed if you have the time and extra shields.

3. Try to build a marketplace, bank, and stock exchange... plus a library, university, and research lab. Round that out with a granery, harbor, aquaduct, sewer system, and supermarket. Add city walls, coastal frotress, SAAM, SDI and you have your basic defense. A barracks, port facility, and airport will let you build veterans and fix stuff in one turn, wowie. You'll get a buncha chields if you build a factory, offshore platform, power plant, hydro plant, nuclear plant, manufacturing plant, and solar plant (what you don't need can be sold). A mass transit and recycling plant will help control all those shields. To keep happiness, build a temple, colosseum, cathedral, superhighways, police station, and courthouse. This is my short list of favorite improvements and if you build them all quickly, your city will be very powerful indeed.

4. Build all the most powerful units and attack everyone.

5. The best people to attack are your enemies. You can see of a city is an enemy city by running your attacker into it. If you hear a lot of noise, and see a little dust cloud, congratualtions... you done found one of dem dare enemieees. Keep doing that until you hear a trampling/marching sound, the start the whole process again in a different spot. Sooner or later, you will win the game!

Good luck,

Alec

PS, If you find my brilliant advice above, you may call it "Smart, Alec!" (hehe

I have many different strategys for each difficulty level.

OK, HIEROPHANT...

Let's hear those strategies. You can't just make that statement without telling us about them, LOL!

I think the one I wrote above (under the "name" of Alec) is a good one for any difficulty level, hehe.

Tell us about your strategy at Deity, since many people play that level, or are trying to learn things at that level. Don't hold back, dude!

If it weren't for the nagging feeling that some folks out there just might enshrine that as their new stategy, I'd take you up on it, LOL! But I couldn't do that to an unsuspecting newbie who's likely spend $$$ for such intellectual wisdom, even it it is from Smart Alec!
