okay heres my current game. i want you advice.
I am England in the industrial age. iam the worlds greatest superpower. i am then followed closey by germany, india and celts. i have a seris of colonies around the world and a large navy to protect them.On my borders are germany and scandanavia. which are allies.
The whole world loves me except for the portugese who i smashed a few hundred years ago, and now the rest of the world are picking at the left over of the portugese.
The problem i have is there is no coal in my empire. all the nations who have coal are either to large to attack or are allied to nations to large to attack. That leaves spain a small backwards at the top of my contient, So i made plans to invade them. I sent a force of 30 cavalry and 35 riflemen to capture there nation. They have pikemen and longbowmen so it was going to be a smashing.
To get to them i had to go though the territory of Germany (my neighbour and the second most powerfull nation in the game) and Russia ( a morderate power) i had my army all the way though germany and part way though russia,when Spain signed a military alliance with russia. I then called my cavalry back because i could send them fast but let my riflemen go on to the border but near indias border so i could leave russia if i needed.
I had planned the conquest of spain to take 5 turns. And i could take russia but that would take another 20 turns. Andiam sure during this time russia would sign a alliance withsome one like germany and start a world war.
I have tried dipolmatic means (making the spainish have a revolution then propagandering there coal city) but this did not work. so now i have a huge conscript riflemen army 20 turns from home and quickly becomeing obselet. I dont want war with russia but i need coal (for railroads.) there is no other sources where i can get coal with out causeing a world war.
As a country iam in a great possision, i have a huge military, most of the wonders. lots of luxuarys, heaps of gpt and the whole world loves me. Except i dont have coal. And the only place its available is from invading spain. no one can trade it. But war with spain means war with russia (who i currently have trade deals and a right of passage).
How can i get the spainsh coal without causeing a world war. which i dont want.
