I used to play civ I back in the days, and now I've taken it up again. Back then, I had a modified civ.exe file which did that, when playing, whenever you ended your turn, you automatically received maximum shields (ie 30,000+). This was really neat when you felt like cheating once in a while, and now I've started playing again, I miss that cheatfile. I've been surfing the net high and low for that file, but I can't find it - all I get is editors that allows me to get full shields, but that of course is only a temporary solution - once you get to be a big civilization, you can spend 30,000 in no time.

Does anyone have this particular cheat file? Or know where I can find it? If so, I'd really appreciate it if you let me know.

Alright, thanks. Flying_dolphin

I can only tell you what I do. If you have the Dos version (mine is 3.something) and know how to edit the game file it is a piece of cake. The civ1 money is the two bytes starting at offset 314. So to put in the Roman money it would be (256*the byte at 315) plus the byte at 314.The civ5money, usually the Americans, is (256*the byte at 323) plus the byte at 322. I am sure you can work out the others. Maybe one the editors you mention would do the job. Qbasic will do it too but it would take too long to explain it.

Hope this helps.

flying_dolphin, back in the 90's when I used to run a Civilization 1 dedicated site, I spent weeks (not hours, or days...) looking for all kinds of Civilization resources on the internet. The sum total of Civ 1 materials on the internet is:

- The Civilization FAQ, and a few other minor commentaries on the lilback site.
- The cheat codes listed on the CivFanatics cheats page, plus some other, rarer ones by CivMan
- The strategy guide I made (no longer available except for by email)
- The reference charts I made (on civfanatics)
- A number of digital versions of the tech chart
- a pdf of the original manual, and an HTML version of a later Ed. of the manual
- Saved game and map editors (usually hard to find)
- Screenshots of every single unit, building (icon and the building itself), wonder of the world, terrain type, and world leader.

Plus there were some ******** sites with maybe 5-page strategy guides which were nothing more than stories about one successful game with little valid or reusable ideas.

In all my searching, I have never seen what you describe. If it exists at all, it is not available on the internet. Your best bet is to try to retrace where you acquired it originally.
