I am a complete idiot! I was clearing out my save games, I had loads, and when I clicked delete (and held shift to make it permanent) i had the civ2.exe file in there as well. Now I can't play the game.

Is there anywhere I can get that particular file? Or if any of you would be kind enough to help me out.

Also, I should point out that I would have re-installed it, but I lost the CD ages ago! That's why I can't listen to the ingame musci or view the council meetings.

Plz help me out.:D :D

No backup? Tsk, tsk. And holding the Shift key too...

Do you have an Undelete utility, like with Norton? If not, you deserve to have to pay $10 to MicroCenter or Amazon to get another disk. Dont think anyone here is going to post the EXE file; that would allow anyone else to rip it off. Plus the Mod will probably remove it ASAP.

Well, if you have MGE of FW, you could download Cedric Greene's patch, available on this site. Otherwise, you've learned the hard way about throwing away discs/not having backups.

A tip, when deleting multiple files use "Ctrl" instead, you have to cliuck on all teh files but you don't get the ones that are in teh middle, but they are right you have a problem now unless it is still in the recycle bin...

Current price $4.75, no bids, $4.50 shipping, 2 days left

They also have Civ 3 PTW, which comes with Civ 2 now.

As Andu said, you could try using a patch for your version since that should include the updated .exe file. :)

I bought the original and fw off my friend for £5 so I'm ok. Thanks again for your help guys.

Wow!

I looked at Duke of Marlbrough's links and then searched for civ2 and civ3 and lots of bargains. I found civ2 for a price of 5 dollars. If the shipping is only 4 dollars or less, that's equal or less than to the 9.99 price at Target. If it comes in the box and manual it's even better because it's just a CD at Target.

Yeah kinda sad actually....not that being able to buy a brilliant game like CIV2 cheaply changes its appeal in anyway but just looking at Ebay and the number of CIV2's on sale and how many aren't even being bid just confirms my belief that the majority of gamers out there only buy the latest stuff for the so-called "hype" appeal and because its "NEW!!!". CIV3 is a perfect example. You cant get it on Ebay for under £15 pounds (excl postage) but you can pick a CIV2 for the cost of less than a dollar.

BTW i recently sold a complete set for CIV2...included CIV2, CIV ToT, Fantastic Worlds, CICS and all the manuals complete in boxes. I got £5.19 and believe me that was the highest auction price for CIV2 ive seen on Ebay UK for months now...

Makes one think......

Shipping does cost a lot though; sometimes even more than the actual product!

I'm not familiar with pounds...what's the tranlation rate between pounds and dollars?

The really sad part is that most of the younger gamers just coming into the gaming world have never heard of Civ2!! There has been no advertising for several years now. The only way a new gamer will find out about civ2 is if he/she is lucky enough to know/meet a gamer who already knows of the game, or stumbles into a website like CFC, otherwise, he will never know about civ2!

I seldom do translations between dollars and pounds, but roughly:
10 SEK = $1 = €1
15 SEK = £1

So I guess that you can get £1 for $1.5.

SEK is Swedish Crowns

So about 22 dollars U.S for Civ3. Not a big discount considering postage in mind.

I could pick up Civ2; I just snapped out of a long Civ3 streak. But then I would have to unlearn everything on Civ3 and then unlearn Civ2 if I wanted to go back to Civ3. Too much trouble.

Look in the $9.99 racks at BestBuy, CompUSA, OfficeMax, Office Depot etc. You're likely to get lucky, but don't wait too long!

For civ2? I know about the $9.99 bargin bin sales of Civ2. But if I could get it slightly cheaper on eBay...plus a manual and the box! that would be even better (the only sell CDs)

PRINT THE MANUAL? How long is it? I was looking at the Civ3 manual and it was hell...tons and tons of pages.
