I Need Help!!

I bought Civ III, I was greatly looking forward to it coming but so far I am highly disappointed. My question for anyone who can help is... how do I change the font? I hate this font, and I can't even read the preferences to change it!!!

I don't won't to have to return this game before I even get a chance to play it. Please reponse as soon as you can. Thanks.

I don't remember any game that allowed font changes. You can disable the smooth font by holding down the apple key while you double click Civ3. Or you can lower the resolution for larger font?

I'm not having any font problems at all. How about a little more info, like what kind of display, what resolution and just which game screens are giving you trouble? Also, what version are you using? I have seen no other complaints about the font except for the drop shadow issue in the original version which was fixed in one of the patches. Could you somehow be missing the required fonts on your system?

Well anyway, the font for all the commands, on the right side of the startup screen and throughout the game are barely legable. Very annoying!

I'm gonna make a copy and do some tinkering with ResEidt, maybe I can solve this myself. If you think you can help please e-mail me and I'll send you a screenshot. Thanks everyone for your help!

Are you using OS 9 or X? In any case, I'd suggest downloading the 1.17g patch or the 1.21 beta patch. Have you ever played with your font folder? It sounds to me like one of the fonts the game wants is not installed on your machine.

Its odd, the only font in the font folder is a nice smooth one, I'm not sure where the other comes from, it must be inside the game itself. As for ResEdit for some reason I can't get it to work, so I'm fresh out of ideas for the moment. I'll try downloading the patch, where do I get it?

When I first got Civ3 Mac, using it on OS X, the F1 screen was especially "ugly", with the edges of the fonts all blotchy. The drawing and updates on the F1 were especially SLLOOWWWW, particularly when I changed the science rate.

In Preferences(?), there was a setting to turn Quartz off or on. While I thought Quartz would be the way to go, turning Quartz off did wonders, and my F-screens worked faster on my G4 iMac 800MHz than my Windoze HP 1300MHz.

On a grey G4 400MHz Mac at work, with OS 9.1, I have no graphic problems with 1.21f open beta.
