Hello all!

I have downloaded the excel document which contains really great information about the unit upgrading costs but there are some missing units in some parts of the chart.

Here's the link I have been using:

The main upgrade excel doc:

I would like to make it complete but I have not the knowledge of unit costs at this time.

Does anyone have this costs already set in place on another list or something?

Thanks
BS

I have that one also, but it is not in Excel format(I use this for adding my own content to print out my own added features for personal use) and also, that booklet is zipped and I have no way of unzipping the file since I use my local library's computers for everything at present.(they do not allow unzipping, or for that matter, running ANY:rolleyes: programs except what they have on the systems for security purposes)

Thanks though.

Any other ideas people?

BS

I just use dj_anion's booklet.

Um.... how do you play Civ if you don't have a computer?

I have the game from another system I use to own but which I have recently sold. I am in the process of building another system soon at which point I will install the game again.

In the meantime I will be reading ALOT here, and Apolyton also, and writing material for when I get things back up and running.:D

I simply need to make the corrections on the excel file.

yikes...you sound almost as addicted as I am

As Civilization the entire series has proven, addiction can be fun!

I love the game and all aspects of its use including reading and re-writing stuff others have written. (I'm a perfectionist)

The cost to upgrade a unit is just 20+3*(cost in hammers of new unit - cost in hammers of old unit), so you can calculate this quite easily.

Is this true for all speeds? The excel doc has the ability to be selected from quick - marathon speeds. I would think that there is a change necessary from one speed to the next. Am I wrong about this?

My guess is you apply the game speed modifier after mr cynical's calc:

Marathon 3*[20*3*(hammer cost new unit - old unit)]

Rounded down

I do not have my paperwork here at the moment so I will have to guess at the exact upper for each speed of play. and I also was not thinking about the level of play yet either. I will take a look at the calcs inside each box of the excel spreadsheet to know for sure later on.

Thanks!:D

Well the hammer cost of units scales with game speed, so the formula is accurate in any situation. The hammer costs will just be higher on the slower speeds.

One thing to bear in mind is that unit cost is one of the few things which doesn't follow the Epic = 1.5x and Marathon = 3x approach. Units only cost 2x the amount of Marathon that they do one normal. Epic I think the cost is 1.25x and Quick I think is 0.8x, but I'm not certain without looking it up.
