I really hate Aesthetics

Hm. Well, in total disagreement with most; I find Nimoy's voice, well, not annoying, but I would have preferred a long list of other folks over his voice. A change is nice.

Like Awnolds!

Oh, come on, you wouldn't take Morgan Freeman or James E.J.?! They clearly have the best voices in all of history.

On the other hand, the worst choice would be Tom Hanks. Seriously... blech.

Yeah, I'd take Nimoy over Hanks, just the thought brings a shudder

Forest Gump when you discover Philosophy: "Y'know, life is like a box o' chok-lates"

*brrrrrrrr* :scared:

If I had MY choice, I'd go for a female voice - say, Sigourney Weaver.

You can remove tech splash screen in the .ini, therefore getting no tech screen or quotes anymore. Bonus points if you've played so much that you can keep doing them by yourself after turning them off.

*raises hand*

I think I could go without a quote from "Aliens" when I discover Future Tech. How about Whoopy Goldberg?!

I think we should have a compromise - all voices for Civ 5 to be done by Morgan Freeman!

Amen!

I would love to have the voice of God doing voice-overs!

yeah, well, you can't beat Morgan, I agree, he's the top of the heap.

I don't picture Aliens when I hear Signourney's voice, tho' - rather, Planet Earth

They should have yoda's voice doing the tech speeches instead.

I think CivFanatics forum members should do the voiceovers for their favorite technologies.

P.S. I knew that they didn't get Nimoy back for the new BTS technologies, but I had no idea that was Sid himself. Huh.

Sid Meier was horrible. I do a combination laugh and cringe when I hear the Aesthetics quote. Ugh. They really should have gotten Nimoy back. Even though his delivery was a bit bland and robotic in many of the quotations, it was infinitely better than Sid Meier.

Morgan Freeman, Sigourney Weaver, Samuel L. Jackson, or James Earl Jones would all be awesome.

Nimoy was an odd choice. What does an actor who is known only for being in a sci-fi TV show about space exploration, have to do with a heavily historical, nation-building simulation?

Is it just a case of the designers thinking that we're all gamer nerds and will therefore go ga-ga over a nerd icon from a different genre?

Leonard Nimoy just sounds good. I don't think it has anything to do with who he is (post now if you started humming the Bilbo Baggins song)

To be fair, I think Nimoy was chosen as much for In Search Of... and Ancient Mysteries as he was for Star Trek. There's something romantic and unusual about science and technology in this game which fits his sort of ghostly, wizened delivery.

wow, smackthewise! thats awesome.. could you image Cain the elder sounding off the later techs? "This does not bode well!" or Griswald talking about the ancient metal-working techs. "ahh, that sword is just not gonna work against those demons out there."

Come to think of it, would it be possible to create a diablo world for civ4?

I suggest we use Ozzy Osborne for the voicework in Civ5. He could say whatever the hell he wanted and nobody would understand it.

"Oi, I foo'ed ya, mate, I foo'ed ya. Oi got peeg iyun, I got fuggen peeg iyun. I god oll gawdem fuggen pig iyun."
