I think Impi is only good for defender...

Yes, looks like mobility of Impi is powerful, you can move impi between cities very fast. Especially after you upgrade impi to infantry.

But, when you attack another country, impi lost its 2 point movement in attacked country. So, normal infantry is as good as infantry upgraded from impi.

What is your opinion?

No impi have the mobility promotion so they can move and pillage on the same turn. Thus making them very effective pillagers when combined with chariots. Chariots to protect the Impi from axeman.

I've only played one game as the Zulus, but I had a lot of success using an attack force of impis and chariots. Flanking promoted chariots weaken city defenders, then the impis take the cities, and the whole stack zips around with 2 moves.

try dealing with them for exactly that combo in multiplayer

2 stacks with 2 chariots and 2 impis a peace hit your border. watch your improvements get wasted because they can completely pillage down any improvement in a single turn. if there is no resistance handy they split up and you now have 4 mini stacks to deal with that eat up axemen.. its brutal I tell ya.
