I wanna build an elevator. Really wanna!

Haven't thought of Red Green in an age. :D Yes of course they were pioneers in the phone booth winch elevator set. :b:

Formaldehyde, thanks for that. This is why I want a kit. It must be a real elevator.
Then call Otis, and gladly pay whatever they wish along with the annual inspections.

Formaldehyde, that's exactly why I don't call Otis. If we build the thing...I guess assemble is better with a kit, then I can stick my nose in it a couple times a year and look for potential problems. Normally that would have to do with the cables wearing...

Peter, was that worth sending from a Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk, or was the point to show us that you are sending from a Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk? :D

Borachio, good idea! Just end the flume over the ocean...

If you're worried about an escalator rusting, you should be triple worried about a lift rusting.

How so? A lift is enclosed in a shaft. The cables are out of the weather while an escalator is outside in the salt air.

It all seems a lot of fuss to me. (But I'm so naturally idle, anything to avoid any effort.)

Why not just move the bar downstairs?

And as you gradually decline, just move yourself permanently downstairs too.

The salt is still present in the air.

Narry not so! As the elevator goes up or down the are moves around the sides. The salt that was in the air when the shaft was built has long ago done its damage. A sealed system, though not perfect, is better than full exposure. The interior of the elevator box itself could be all wood and impervious. :dunno:

Borachio, its no fuss, I enjoy this stuff and have lots of very talented help at reasonable rates if I need it.
