I want my WWII moment, advice?

any difficulty below immortal and you will generally have this problem. play on immortal huge map with several extra added civs and you should find that you have a tough epic war for all eras.

Just won a cultural victory as montzmutza and the war with persia was in the modern era I took over all of asia and europe and africa and was invading north america which was where persia were. it was the most epic fight ever, persia put up a huge fight and it was a dead locked stalemate but all the killed units gave me rapid culture to win that way.

if you want these sought of scenarios you need to play a difficulty level high enough to challenge you and with enough civs for there to still be strong civs left even when youve taken most of the world.

i got a tecnology lead and built most f the world wonders thopugh my capital was a production super house. in fact in my entire time playing civ 5 so far this was the best production city i have ever had 170 production seriously.

generally you can build wonders if you can outpace them tecnologicly.

no matter what you do they will star of with a tec lead heres how you catch up and take over.

explore the liberty track and get the great scientist build an academy this will help you keep up better.

you also need to settle in places with lots of lux resources.

sell of these lux resources and buy out as many city states as possible

patronage track and get the science boost.
puppet citys you take dont raize them.
more science. note its near impossible to get a big tec lead unless im missing something but it is possible to be ahead by the modern era.

and if you start building before theyve got the tecs your likly to win the race.

or just get a city with 170 production

alright lego I did that game i told you i was going to do.

Washington
Industrial Era
Marathon pace
Small Maps - Continents plus
King difficulty

And let me tell you, it was alot of fun! I started a game before this with emperor difficulty (which i play 99.9 of the time) on the map eastern us. As washington i thought it would be a fun game to play and i threw in all the indians and european powers... but they all seemed to know i wanted to dominate and that game turned into a cannon and riflemen slug fest. I didnt feel like i had a chance when my 3 neighbors attacked me hardcore so i restarted with a continents and king difficulty.

It was fun i had montezuma and arabia on my continent and those were tuff early wars. after that i created an invasion force to take out the tech civ on the other continent with modern artilary carriers, bombers, missle cruisers to protect ships, and all that jaz. pretty much steamrolled em and then waited until i had nukes to take out the last of the little buggers.

All in all, the first game was rough because of the things i did at the beginning like not building an army to prevent ppl from wanting to go to war with me. I think it would be alot of fun if i replayed it and was more careful. King was too easy for me and there wasnt much challenge after i took my continent. ALTHOUGH it was REALLY fun to have modern wars when your still sort of developing infrastructure. like, using the tanks and all the jets and ships and everything was alot of fun. i might start playing industrial - marathon more often!

anyway just thought id share. give it a try though
