Heh, I'm a bit afraid to get better. See, I'm at that sweet spot of enjoyment between levels. If I want some easy fun, I can play Regent and use a handful of tricks I've learned here--guaranteed win. The question is by how much. Most of the time, I don't even finish the game because I'm just fooling around, trying out stuff. If I want a fair challenge, I can move up to Monarch. I'll have to use a few more tricks learned here, most of which I don't want to bother with the whole game--but this just makes it exciting. If I was more careful, it'd be a near sure thing. But there's excitement knowing that the ruler of my civ sometimes has attention laspses that might cost me.
If I get marginally better, Regent will be boring and Monarch will be a possible loss only when being willfully stupid. I'd have to get good enough to hit that sweet spot between Monarch/Emporer. I'm not sure I want to put that kind of effort into it.
