A little background of your civ (for civilopedia):
Eliria is a confederation of socialist republics whose culture is very eclectic: it is something like a mixture of our Mediterrenean, Eastern european and German literature and philosophy. The education system is perfect: the children till they are 5 years old are educated with science, classical phylosophy and modern art and literature, so the population cultural level is very high. However, the childeren are educated even to civil respect and hard work and the lifestyle of people is very strict.
There are no parties. The country is ruled by a hierarchic system of elected Workers Councils; every one of them controls the administration of a region or a group of corporations. The economic system is a mix of planning and free trade and it is controlled by direct democracy. The federal government has a very low power (except in the times of war) and it is controlled by a parliament where every member represents one Workers Council. The Welfare system (health, education) is very well developed as the industrial system is, but the main part of the nation wealth is spent on investment and buildings, never on private luxury.
The civil and personal rights are really respected: there is no death penalty, no racism and the sexual freedom is total. People can take part in the political life of the country organizing public assemblies in the main squares of the cities and nearly always the Workers Councils take care of the most intelligent suggestions of people (remember theyre very acculturated)! Obviously the Worker Councils members do it also because they want to be elected again
Eliria has a past of tyranny and exploitation. Every year, on 19th of April, people celebrate the Fest of Revolution to remember the downfall of the last king Emanuel Renhern and of the capitalistic system, after a great rebellion of starved laborers and common people: now socialism has been definitively established. Elirians love peace and they never attack other countries if they are not; however theyve organized the Great International a big political association whose aim is helping the exploited and poor people of the world in getting free and start the walk on the way of democracy, development and wealth, even with armies if it is necessary.
