right-of-passage tip

I've seen alot of people complaining about how right-of-passage only has on good use and that is to get through another countries terrority. Well here's another one:

If you are preparing to go to war with someone while your getting your units into stacks close to their terrority offer them a right-of-passage agreement.(This might be hard because most of the time the AI doesn't like you very much, just offer them ALOT of gold or a useless science to get it.) The send your units through their terrority to the other side. Then once the right-of-passage clears up you can attack from to differant fronts!!!!

If anyone has any improvements to my idea just say so. I'll try to edit the page more for improvements, when I think of it!

Tips for warfare

1. Never attack to early and don't attack to late in the game. If you attack to early your be at a disavantage the rest of the game. War will weaken you always! If you attack to late the AI will get MPP's together and when you go to attack one civ you might get 4-5 against you!

2.Before you attack get your units together in stacks of atleast 8 near the city you want to attack. I always get stacks of about 15-20 and put them as close as possible to the city there going to attack.

3.Always bring defensive units with you! not only to protect the cities you take but also to protect you offensive units!! When you first attack the enemy will through everything but one unit for defense on each town against you.Be prepared to fight back!

If anyone want to post idea's tips or strategy's just post them. Or if you have any improvements to mine jsut tell me!

Goverments

Pick the goverment that suits you the best! Communism or monarchy for war and demorcracy for peace. When you would like to goto war sometimes and stay peaceful other pick a religous civ, then you have a 1 turn switch to demorcracy or communism. Never ever stay with the first goverment.

Negoigation

If you have ALOT of gold give about 10 gold to another civ. 10 gold per 10 years will help. Also if you have a useless science(say music theory) give it to them!

Never ever pay tribute to someone who is weaker than you.(unless your at war with 3 or more other civs)Check the rankings every 10 turns to see who's #1 or who's last.

Defending the capital

Always defend your capital. Try to put your capital in a good defendable poistion. The cities around your capital build walls. It's alot easier to defend you cities then to take a enemy city.

Miltary

Try to keep your miltary as strong as possible. If your miltary is weak the other countries will see you sitting their with a few weak units and start damnding tribute. Tribute can be expansive over time and it's better if you never have to pay it, but it normally happens once or twice.

Trading

Try to get as much as possible from the AI techs, gold, maps anything. Even if it's one piece of gold. The more you trade with an AI(and the more genrous you are with them)the more they respect you.

I will try to keep adding on and editing the post....

i got a better idea.

how about u sign ROP then u MOVE ALL OF YOUR UNITS BESIDE THEIR CITIES. ROP expires, the 1-turn war!!! :die!:

Yeah but then you lose respect from the other nations.

Monarchy is a better war government than communism. Monarchy you can rush via cash and i believe there is less corruption because if you want a succesful communism you need a police station and courthouse in every city then it is good. Same with democracy and republic. Democracy works if you have alot of luxuries and high luxury rate.

Ok thanks GOD I'll edit it change it to communism and monarchy.

If you want to post your Idea's tips etc. here!

I ALWAYS run as a monarchy, mainly because I don't want any crap from my subjects or war weariness or pissed off peons trying to unseat me. I always build enough workers to deal with the pollution problem. (I typically keep them stacked in units of 6-12 using the skip-turn mode.) I find it's easier to deal with pollution than it is to deal with a winning populous.

Here's something I've learned:
leave an area of the map (ocean shoreline) under your control dark, then import your veteran modern armor and attack the barbarian camps that show up while they still have two units in them. If you attack both units and win (modern armor has, of course, the ability to attack twice during the same turn . . . and you will ALWAYS win) it will upgrade your armor to elite status during peacetime. ;) ES

I'll have to try that once I get my civ3 CD back.... It seems like a good idea to get your guys to elite quickly without much trouble.

Make sure you kill off BOTH barbarian units with the same piece of modern armor during the same turn.;) ES

Ok.... I'll make sure to do that

Hello.... I haven't posted or edited this for a while so today I added the trade section and I also fixed a couple of mispells.
