Identical Map Generation (not random!!)

Adding my consensus. My first game, I was testing out the graphics card, pre-patch. I believe I CHOSE Isabella, started on the left continent. Two civs, me and Inca, Settler difficulty, Quick speed. (I know, I know, I wanted a half-hour game and I got a half-hour game; it still nearly KILLED my computer. Now I just open Task Manager and close out everything but Civ.)

I didn't recognize it 'cause that was a WHILE ago, and I couldn't ever zoom the map out that much. Also killed off Huayna Capac before the Industrial era and hadn't bothered to explore much.

Are you guys sure they are identical or just very similar? Because perhaps it is simply a trend in the map generator that creates that type of landmasses and it looks very close.

I am not sure if you revealed the whole map either to make sure. When checking, make sure you enable cheats and use the debugging mode and see if the whole map is the same.

Now, you may well have done all that, I don't know. From reading the thread however, I got the feeling there might be a little room for misinterpretation.

Actually, this turned out to be a real live bug that they squashed in 1.52.

The maps were identical, even the terrain and resources. 1.52 fixed it though.:D

Ah! The map of doom!!! lololol... I've had the exact same map too. In fact I started a new game three times and got the exact same map, and starting location.

I'm pleased that 1.52 fixes it, but I don't have net access at home, so it looks like I'll have to download it at work, and bring in my external hard drive to copy it (they don't have CD rewriters. Oh well... I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually know what the problem was?

Sirian's the guy who did most of the work on the map scripts.
