How old is the computer? I've used an old 98 for years and it had the same problems you've described. Never figured out what was wrong, so I just trashed it.

Pretty new, from like last year IIRC. Runs on XP SP3, uses pretty good hardware...

Yeah, this shouldn't be happening. Unless you bought some serious Grade-B products. My old computer didn't have any name-brand hardware, so it came as no surprise when I cracked the case open and found Brand X written on everything - confirming my suspicions.

Nope, no dust, I do regular blow-out sessions with the special air cans.
