IE Browser freezes when loading a banner

Hi, I haven't been on civfanatics for a long time (since the release of BtS) until a week ago and I occassionally find that my browser freezes (ie, 'not responding') when loading the Civfanatics forums. It seems to stop when loading a banner.

does anyone else have this problem? Is there any way I can pin point what ad it is that's causing the problem?

That was a useful post. Here's a thought, how about not spamming and don't post if you don't have something constructive (and no, saying how great your browser is doesn't count) to add .

What version of IE? What OS?

If it's because of the banner that's a flash variant. You might need to update your Flash Player. To be on the safe side, upgrade IE that is appropriate for your OS.

I have Win 7 (64 bit) and IE version 8.0.7600.16385 (32 bit).

I thought the updates were all automatic for both the flash player and IE. I'll look into ensuring they are updated.

Nah everything seems to be updated

Try disabling flash and see what happens.

Though Id recommend using another browser (Firefox is my choice.)

It happens when it accesses banner.civfanatics.com/civfanatics/banner/banner.php or something like that.

I'll try switching the player off and see if it happens again.

here is the flash player settings manager page, and yeah its irritage you have to go to a web page to set them

Thanks for that. It was set on auto updates. Interestingly I received a player update recently for some reason (it was for 10.1, but I thought I had that already). Anyway... the crashing hasnt happened lately iirc. I'll repost if it happens again. Thanks again for the help.
