If I add a new terrain to C3C, what would you like?

I may have enough time to add some graphics to my terrain set.

I can add up to 3 new terrain types.

I can only use the overlay terrains (forests, mountains, hills), C3C doesn't quite allow the addition of new base terrains (i've tried it and it doesn't work (connections don't connect properly)).

But overlay graphics will work - just like the way marshes work.

So tell me what terrains you would like to see added, and I'll see if I can get round to the most popular ones. Oh and give me its attributes (movement cost, food, etc).

Keep in mind, these additional graphics will only work as scenario's, because I will be using C3C's Landmark feature to do this.

I don't think you can do this because it shares the same art as desert, but anew floodplain would be cool. Kind of brown and fertile, like in Pharoah, or possibly being brown in the centre and turning greener as it gets to the edge of the tile. It would of course have to be at least 4 foo, but maybe even 5. I suppose there would be no major movement penalties, except perhaps wheeled units...?

Snoopy I beg you. I need a Steppe terrain to replace the Jungle in my Medieval Europe mod. Jungle used to be Marches/Swamp, but now that c3c is out I have another use for Jungle.

I would be very gratefull if you helped me:worship:

The terrain I wanted most was the basic terrain :( (wastelands, steppes) - but maybe these can be done as overlays? The steppes are something I wanted between plains and tundra, so it could be some brownish stuff growing (overlaying) a normal plains, with same stats. Same for wastelands, they could overlay plains or desert, resembling a barren, dead earth. No stats, all 0's.
Other ideas:
- dead forest - of dead, warped trees. stats: 1-2 shields, no food... <- I need this one so much :)
- ashlands ie. ash-covered, evil-looking mountains, hills and volcanos (to replace the normal ones). Possibly also normal ashland, a dark overlay for grasslands. Stats:... err.. no or little fo0d.
- desert dunes - that would be cool if this actually worked. I suspect it will still have grassland as a "base". EDIT: I meant desert hills of course...

What Emperor Xerxes said should be do-able - mud plains as a desert landmark. After all it's the player who chooses where to place a landmark so I believe it can be placed where flood plain should be (and renamed)

Icebergs in ocean, Coral reefs in shallow water and ...lets see
how about glacier like flow off of mountains. (nice graphics you do )

I thought they were supposed to have rainforest terrain for Conquests. Oh well. That would be cool.

Also, another one I've really thought a lot about would be fertile desert --like most American deserts. Teaming with life, but are still very hot and dry. 1 food. 0 shields. Desert move. The difference between desert and fertile desert would be that I would NOT allow irrigation/mining in desert, but WOULD allow it in fertile desert. :D

Also, I think Steppe terrain would be very cool. I saw a special on PBS the other night. I would like terrain like they showed in Africa. Kind of like Plains/Steppe/Fertile Desert mixed into one. Harsh plant life, many trees (but just in clusters), flooding a very important part of the area. It teamed with life. Resources I don't know. Maybe this is just "Flood Plains". If so, I agree that I would like to see Flood Plains a little more fleshed out and lively.

I've always thought the graphic for Plains should have more life in it. More going on. More than just browness. I'm not sure what I have in mind, but it's a thought.

Thanks Snoopy.

I think Steppes (I changed Tundra to this a number of times), Glacier (allowing Submarines to hide and a new flag, "submerged" because Inquistadors shouldn't see Subs (if there was one of those "super" games involving everything)), Fords (crossing able by ships flagged as "small" or something so you would need smaller PT-Boats and large Battleships. Also can be crossed by land units, like the fords in Age of Kings), and then "flavor" terrains like having dead forests and ashlands for fantasy mods and if you were having something like a Nordic scenario you would have icebergs, tundra, glaciers, riverbed (irrigation tundra), and fords.

Rainforests, canyons, and icebergs, oh my! Thanks for the great work that you do for us, Snoopy! Your latest update (v 4.5 for Conquests) is excellent, as always! Thanks again!

I would like rainforest, a jungle with less powerful or no disease. BTW: JonathanValjean, you have 999 posts! You better make your 1000th post worth it! :)

Yea. Impassable canyons would be cool. Imagine your faced off against another civ across a huge canyon. You can see each other, but without helecopters or ships to go around your SOL.

Definetively diferent flood plain looks (something between desert and grassland), "forested hills" (with more shields production), more diference between grassland and bonus grassland, "african savana" and "Rock Desert" without any shields, food or commerc and any resources and at the end "Coral Islands" with extra food and commerc but without possibility to be connected to land (I mean to stay only island with one or few tails).

Thanks for asking Sn00py!

I hope you like some of my ideas.

What I would like us is being able to select when hills and jungles appear on the mountains and hills. Also how big and the random shape of the forests, also the plains.

Just remember that all Sn00py was suggesting he do is to change the graphics using the new landmark terrains (and the overlay ones at that (forests, mountains, hills). Some of what you guys are asking for is outside of what can be done in a paint program and the landmark rules (for example, making a tile impassable is not allowed unless you want the normal tile to be impassable also).

A desert with actual small hills, rocks and little mountains on it. Oh please... I've renamed my landmark terrain as "Rocky Desert" which kind of sounds lame, but does the job.
