If you are having problems loading the scenarios

Startet a new Game, Erebus - Duell could start a scenario without loading. Starting the 2nd scenario from within the 1st (Menagerie) after won it worked too.

Edit: have Vista

Hi, 1st off I wanna thank all involved for turning Sid Meier's cocaine into crack!
This is by far the greatest mod for any game I've played yet.
The load scenario from game doesn't work with any method, but does from the xml.
The reason i post is I've noticed there is more scenarios listed in game then in the
xml folder. I run XP, downloaded from filefront. I'm sure u guys will get straight. THX

Try a custom civ start to reset them, then go the way Kael advised!

Or just start a game with "PLAY NOW!", wich resets all game options.

If I start a custom game (doesn't need to be duel/erebus) and make the first moves for my units, then the scenarios work. I don't even have to save that game first. I don't know if it makes any difference, but when I click the scenarios tab the description of the Menagerie Scenario is sort of gibberish. If I click on the button for Menagerie, the text becomes regular english again.

I'm using vista SP1.

It crashes out when I load a scenario, turns after the game begins.
But after saving and quiting and loading the mod again, it works.

I'm going to throw a suggestion out there from my experience. Could be way off. The scenarios seem to work for me when I settle my initial settler, but they don't work if I just space through all the units without settling.

My guess is that this is related to something I noticed at the end of the Gift of Kylorin scenario... (not really a spoiler, but I'll tag it anyway)

Spoiler :
Right as the scenario is about to end, a city pops up. I'm assuming that this is in there because the game doesn't let you win unless you have at least one city. Maybe when you load the scenario without having a city it's crashing because you can't end the game without having a city.

Sounds like some of the original maps information is being used to try to run the scenario... and that includes information derived from a scenario played in it.

I don't suppose the scenario's could be set up to load like normal scenarios?

I seem to be able to play the other (non grand menagerie) scenarios (well, I've only tried 3 so far, but they seem to start up ok.

I've tried following the suggestions here without effect.

Could some FFH setting be messing something up again?

Windows Vista Ultimate-sp1, on a laptop Dell XPS M1730.

I crashed on the 1st scenario, even using some tricks explained in other threads (ex.: end 1st turn, then and only then hit ctrl+e)
Following exactly Kael's advises
1. Start a custom game on a duel, erebus map. (with all default options, especially option boxes)
2. Save the game (using the interface, not fast save)
3. Exit FfH2. (I exit from BTS, back to desktop)
4. Reload FfH2.
5. Load your save game.
6. Then try to play a scenario.

It works for me!
Thank you!!

Things i found out so far building on Kaels suggestion:

1) Starting a scenario from within a freshly generated game always results in a CtD.

2) Starting a scenario after loading a save game works, i tried duel and tiny world sizes so far.

3) No need to restart Civ4. For example, i can load up FfH, start a new custom game, then load a saved game and finally start a scenario.

4) Clicking different scenario names and flags from within the scenario screen does not seem to make any difference.

Tested on a pretty standard desktop computer with XP SP3 (english), running not a single "mainstream" software like messengers or anti virus programs.
Hope that helps!

It doesn't work too: in my xml folder there's no scenario anywhere :(

Edit: i just reloaded the game and clicked on the little image on the left of the scenarios name and it loaded it... LOL i think i'm a NOOB.

Well, i've espressed bad how i did.
When first i loaded the Mod, because i was not finding scenarios in Scenario menu, i loaded a game and i went into scenario's screen, then i tryed loading scenarios by clicking on the name of the scenario and it didn't work. So i closed it and i searched to find scenarios in XML foleder. I failed again so i re-loaded a different casual map by "play now" and i went again into scenarios Mod. This time (by error) i've clicked not only on the name of the scenario but also on the little image and whn clicking on the little image it worked. But i did not save a game and reload it, Kael's metod.
However, i have Vista, too.

I had no joy with any of the scenarios last night until I opened up the Grand Menagarie from the Assets folder. After the GM game I was able to start Momus straight off.

I'd got ctd's each time I tried to select a scenario via the flags. Before going via the assets folder I tried using the Grand Menagarie (about three times), the Barb World one and Dain's dungeon

After the first go at opening the Grand Menagarie from just a standard start I'd tried the duel-erebus map save get-around, but this failed too - I hadn't moved any of the units though so if I get a chance I'll see what happens if I settle the city tonight and then re-save (assuming that having now played via the assets folder won't have magically fixed the scenario opening mechanic!)

For reference I have Windows XP, which is upto service pack 3 (...I think!)

XP here. Kael's method worked - however, after playing one scenario, loading the once-used ErebusDuel save didn't allow me to play the next one. I had to start a new DuelErebus game, save it, quit, load that, and then play the next scenario.

Just for the record.... this is what happens for me as well. Played the first scenario no problem... tried to load straight into the second and CtD. Restarted and loaded 2nd scenario no problem.

Using XP SP2 on this computer...

Thanks a lot to everyone who put in all this hard work btw!! Now if Perpentach would just tell me who to kill so I can get on with it! :D

Whoops!! Guess I should have read better.... I actually didn't need to use Kael's method.... I just started a custom game and loaded straight into the first scenario. Sorry about that!

Just messing around with things and I found out that playing in windowed mode is more likely to cause it to CtD. Now I'm playing on fullscreen I haven't had any problems with the scenarios yet.

I tried methods posted here and nothing worked for me. I found only one is working for me and its quite weird.:) I have to run FFH 0.34, unload it and load FFH 2.:D Then I can run Play Now! duel erebus and propably anything else too.:p
