I'm looking for a soccer management game

Just thought I would revive the thread...

After reaching the same stage as the end of the demo, Man UTD are top by 7 points! But they are out of the league cup. At the same time PSV are fourth but close to the top. Cheltenham are doing well in 10th and Torino are just outside the relegation zone.

just got it on saturday been playin a lot :D playin as Charlton mainly holding out 10th in the league through to the worthington cup semifinals

sorry doubble post

Well PSV have been pretty poor, came 3rd in the second group stage and are third in the league, although NEC are top so its not exactly typical. Man UTD are still top although Liverpool have closed up. Cheltenham are slipping down Div 2 as wages rise and rise. Finally Torino have failed to win for a long time and are now in the relegation zone. So Man UTD are my only happy point at the moment...

I'm also playing CM4 as Man Utd.
Won all my games so far (4 or 5 friendlies and a couple of league games). I have a problem on the right wing - Beckham is currently injured for me, so I have Chadwick as a makeweight - he scored one goal in three games and got an assist so he's ok, but the player I want is Joaquin...I've gone up to 20 million and he's not budging...I had a look at Luis Enrique but he couldn't care less about Man U so...I sent my scouts to look at Brazil U-21s, and I'm waiting for a report back from them. I'm also training Richardson to play on the right, which would be a great help.
Anyone identified a spanking right winger who can actually be bought yet? I really want one, every other position is fine.

I LOVE the 2d match view, it really does help to see who's having a mare...however, I noticed in one match, Laurent Blanc kept getting caught in posession, outpaced all the time and generally playing pants...he was directly responsible for one conceded goal and only by the grace of Barthez it wasn't two. After 65 mins I looked at the player ratings and they gave him 8 out of 10??????
Anyway, it's tres cool.

play with out a right wing just put 3 middfielders in the midfield and instruct your full backs to move up to the middfeilders role and with the spare man put him just behing the strikers

Aah, that's not a bad idea - I'll have a look at that for a a few games but I'd rather be 4-4-2. It's worth a look anyway.
I'm playing Scholes as a striker 'in the hole' behind Van Nistelrooy so maybe I'll push Giggs up on the left.

I'm playing a 4-1-2-2-1 with Man UTD. With Giggs and Scholes in the attacking midfield positions, supporting Nistelrooy although I do rotate the team quite alot. Blanc has played rarely for me although he did score the only goal against Arsenal in the champions league when I had to play my reserve team because of internationals :)

My last result: Man United 3 - 0 Real Madrid :D, so I won 3-1 on agregate and it was the quater final so hopefully real life will follow CM.

I was going to post my tactics but the image is too big so I will post it later.

Premier league:
Man United 2-0 West Brom
Man United win the title in the final game of the season with Liverpool coming second.

FA cup:
Man United 2-1 Man City
Two late Nistelrooy goals won the game.

Champions League
Man United p1-1 Liverpool
After despatching Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Man U let ten man Liverpool equalise in the dying minutes with a goal from Heskey but then won the penalty shootout.

Man United win the treble! :D:goodjob::D
Shame about real life...

The Torino manager was sacked on the same day that I guarenteed their Serie A status which was annoying

PSV sacked me on the second to last game after I drew with Feyenoord, well I was in fourth.

Cheltenham finished 15th and hopefully they can build on this next season :)

I played a demo of Ultimate Soccer Manager 98 (I know, hopelessly ancient! Gaah!) and I'm hooked on the genre. What are the good ones out there? (And keep in mind I live in Australia where the edge is not always cutting in terms of game availability.)

MultiPlayer Soccer Manager! It is a great management sim for us who thinks that too realistic simulators ruins the fun, and own a Commodore 64 :D

Yep that happened to me, but you scored one more goal :) Just upload it then post the link.

I've re-started as Real Madrid (I had too many leagues going, so I cut down to UK, Spain and Italy top divisions).
I just beat Man Utd 3-1 (just like real life eh?, boo!)

Incidentally Rochemback sp? is a pretty decent right-winger and can be picked up from Barcelona reserves for about 3.5million pounds.

Since playing against real madrid i went on to play Barcelona
