Immortal University 81 - Joao II

Well as i mentioned afew times in posts I had to go to hospital for an operation, due to a cancellation it was abit more sudden than i thought so wasn't able to ask anyone to take over IU for me.
I'm now out of hospital (had afew problems after operation that kept me in longer than i should of ben in), recovering well with afair amount of free time due to not being able to work for abit. I'll try and get a IU up over next week or so but if anyone else wants to run it thats fine :)

Until 1100 AD

Spoiler :
Man, this is why I always dread Immortal. Super close and a real struggle the entire game. Started by settling 1 se. Missed the 2nd gold but got 1 more corn. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. Pacal and Wang founded religions. My 2nd town I placed In the middle of the food plains to get some cottages going. My 3rd went down between the cow and gold. I stayed out of religion as it was a mixed bad. Took a barb city by the fish up north. Then Victoria settled right into my face, got judaism and calendar. And she was doing great with loads of calendar resources and gold in capital...
I thought I had to do something as my lands weren't that great. I did tech fast though and production was good in capital with iron. Then I went for construction and prepare for war vs victoria before she got totally out of hand. Then out of nowhere Peter declares with a stack. He wasn't even close and I had not denied him any demands. So I got delayed as I repelled him. Then I had to go for Vitoria. But she got Feu and Machinery by 300 BC so I was going to be hard. I took Nottingham with Swords, Axes and cats. Then Hastings followed, Then York. Still no cap as she was no 1 when war started. Sigh. London fell and on the war went. Coventry next and still no cap. Finally after Canterybury got taken did she cap around 400 AD. During the war i upped my army to maces. This was a pain in the *** war and Darius and Pacal(especially)were now getting out of hand. Not to talk about their damn culture spamming :(
Had to go for him before he got curs and he had both a lead in land and tech. And I was falling behind. Victoria didn't want to give me anything (even though I am thinking about giving her edu now that lib is all but lost to Darius)And I take my stack down to pacals border and declare around 700 AD with Maces and cats...Well, Pacal is nothing but of course he bribes in China and Russia into the war vs me :(. Everyone hates me it seems for not cancelling deals with their worst enemies...Sigh.
Well, I had to quickly amass an army to deal with Peter and Quin who were both marching for my capitol. No real losses but alot of wasted production on walls and longbows. On the war vs maya on the other front. I take his 1st city with little problem. The Ctizen Itza with a little more problem. Uxmal falls next and then Mutal is down. But he still has something like 8 cities left and is not even thinking about capping.
Darius is going to get both eco and lib so I need to finish off Pacal quick and go for him next.
But my army is outdated with maces and Trebs. I just have to go contant war on immortal to just keep up vs those city spamming idiots. Finally I get Peter and Quin of my back and can focus on Pacal. And here I am at 1100 AD! with still not lib gone and a game where I have been in contant war all the time. My vassal is doing jack all to help. The big thing will be how far behind will I be if and when Pacal finally gives in.
Darius already have curs soon. Even with him in pts but my empire is in dissarray.

1630 conquest

Spoiler :

Well, things went pretty fast right after 1100 AD.
After Lakhama and Chakmul fell, which they did pretty quickly, Pacal finally capped.
Now the game was more or less leaning heavily in my favour. Once Darius would fall I would be no 1 in everything. And for some stupid reason Darius took eco and then something else so I took lib 1180. :)
Problem was there was no good techs. Pacal already had Nationalism and soon Astro, Viccy was teching PP so I took gunpowder. Well, The war vs Darius ended quickly after a few cities went down. Only with trebs and maces. Heavily upgraded maces... :)
It was 1300 AD now and it was just a matter of cleaning up the place.
Well, my teching went south when my vassals traded tech between them which delayed me alot in getting cavs. Moving 1 movement units across the planet takes it's time. I really started to play less concentrated now as I couldn't decide which to kill 1st. Believe it or not but I 1st considered Peter, then Wang but settled on Quin anyway :) Curs(so late) did the job but Quin refused to cap until I took Beijing.
Finally got Cavs and stomped Peter who capped after 3 cities fell.
Wang did have grenadiers but sheer numbers made it inevitable.
And in 1625 he capped after losing cities to me, Pacal and Quin.
Immortal is always a challenge for me and this was no difference. Really had to slug out it vs Viccy and Pacal but the way the game was going I had little choice.
Once those 2 capped though it was over.
Nice game! Puh

@Pengu: Congrats on your hard-fought win! I somewhat like that kind of games where you're falling behind on tech and just whipping out a bigger and bigger army instead...

Thanks :)
Which is why I like to play emperor as an AI have a tendecy to run a way less.
This makes it less likely I will be forced into these long wars.
But on immortal it almost always ends up with lots of wars and extremly hard fought wins.
Unless on iso, then I am dead on immortal :)
