klonoklown, i feel the need for more education! i've been on the fence for a day trying to decide whether to play a previous UI or wait for the next one - is another one in the works soon?
Went AH>Mining>BW>Fishing>Writing. Decided to wait on settling a 3rd city on the water so Fishing was a waste (should have been Pottery). Horses popped up close and since there weren't any good spots for city #2 and #3 to set up a later rush I decided Chariot rush would be easiest. Looked like Shaka had good land.
Attacked Shaka w/ Chariots at 1480 BC. He had 2 Imps 2 archers and an axeman on his hilled capital. I changed directions and took UmGunglfjdsljlafdsklasf first (after pillaging his copper and a couple other things near his capital. Had some good luck in the first couple Chariot vs Archer fights.
He sent his Impis out to pick off my reinforcing Chariots which allowed me to move down and take the cap. Had bad luck here - lost most my Chariots but he is down to 2 junk cities so it didn't really matter. I still don't have Pottery but his UmGungjadfsl;lkjdfsl city helps with commerce after revolt is over (Shaka cottaged it already). That and capture gold get me through Writing>Pottery and on the way to Aesthetics.
Finish Shaka in 800 BC.
Got a barb city up North and started filling in with some marginally good cities after currency came in.
Since there is marble in city #2 I built Parthenon in Ulundi and I'm putting Heroic Epic there. Capital will finish TGL next turn and start on NE. Tech pace is slow - will go for Lib>Military Tradition from here.
1 AD to 1460 conquest
Spoiler:
Golden age from Scientist into golden age from Taj Mahal. Will get Military Tradition next turn then just need Gunpowder. Putting up the AP buildings (Hindu) everywhere.
Still have 11 more golden age turns to help produce Cuirs after finishing AP buildings/barracks/stables. Diplo situation is good and shouldn't have any trouble ending it with Cuirs. Only wars were Gilg vs Sal at one point I believe.
Finish at 1460. Started getting Cavs at the end but didn't get much chance to use them. Game was very easy after Shaka was gone. He gave me two good cities and there was lots of land/jungle between us and Sury. Barb cities helped keep him away too so settling was nice and easy as the economy picked up. Would have been a tough game I think if Shaka stayed around as there wasn't really land for 6 good cities, or even 4 really. Plus the chance of Shaka attacking would have made unit maintenance high. Tech pace was very slow despite very little war.
