I've got a problem with Wikipedia: the "free" encyclopedia

Some time ago I added info on many civ-related pages, on different languages, of all the scenarios included in Civ4 and BTS, including mine, and adding links and references to my site, Fall From Heaven and so on. Where description of RFC was too brief I extended it.

Today I've found out that I've been accused of "conflict of interest" and an idiot deleted all the RFC-related entries from all the pages.
For instance, now in the Spanish BTS page, 10 scenarios are listed (all but RFC). In the French Civilization IV page, 2 scenarios are listed (Desert War and American Revolution), while the Earth maps and Greek World are missing.
In some other pages, he only deleted the references, so that now they show "citation needed". Like in:
It is based on the Robinson projection of the Earth in order to optimize its size.[citation needed]
What citation does he want, other than the page where the author talks about the map??
He also deleted my site from the list of the three CFC hosted sites. So that now only Blue Marble and FFH are shown.

He stated that if an enstablished / high volume editor does revert his changes, he won't oppose it. If I do that myself, I'll be blacklisted....

So, I'm looking for a volunteer who is already a wiki user, to browse the articles history and revert all the damage he has made with his changes.

That thing is quite frequent in Wikipedia now. At least in the spanish one (very frequent).

I'm sorry to say it's likely the damage won't be undone.

If any other wikipedian reverts those changes the taliban will come back and accuse him of the same "conflict of idiocy".

I am sorry Rhye, but I find this story extremely amusing.
This wikipedian guy must be a master troll. I wonder, if he so vigilinat on your so-called "conflict of interest", what would he say about Berlusconi's!

well, if you care about this, you should try to help.
NOT registering for the occasion and editing, because the idiot will think that it's me with multiple accounts.
Rather find someone who's already been a contributor, or a moderator.

EDIT: I've just sent a PM to Perfection and Thelastone36...

I wouldn't consider myself an established editor, (I am extremely intermittent), Rhye, and in any case I do not have sufficient information about your mod (my computer is far too slow when running Civ 4 for it to be enjoyable), or Wikipedia's policies on the matter to make a skilled decision.

Best of luck.

Wikipedia... "no original research". So I guess someone should interview you, post it to their "news" blog, then have someone else reference the blog in order to update wikipedia. So Inane...

Citations needed? IMO all one has to do for Civ-related entries is to include a link to where the info is coming from. (And that "conflict of interest" stuff is obviously bull - like scientists can't edit their articles because they wrote them. Some idiot at work here...)

It seems that that wikipedia user has overstepped his legal capacity by removing them at once. I thought he could suggest that those articles to be removed and some experianced wikipedia users vote if they are going to be removed or not.
The best thing to do now would be to contact a senior member of wikipedia and told him that your pages has been sabotaged by that user and ask him to semi-protect your articles.

I won't consider myself an established editor but:

The citation in [Citation needed] means that you need to have a source to back up your claims. For example:

The Rhye's and Fall of Civilization world map is based on the Robinson's projection[x]

Sources:
x. www.domain.net

Second of all, I check the quote and it said:

The most important concept behind the mod is that civilizations don't start all at the beginning of the game, but appear at different times. For instance, picking the Arabs, the game will autoplay until 620 AD, when the player will take control and find a world that may have developed in an unpredictable way.

Dynamic rise and fall of civilizations, stability management (unstable empires will risk secessions and civil wars), plague, world congresses, customized AI, unique civilization powers and world wars are the most prominent and innovative features of this mod.[32]

To me, this sounded alot like an advertisement promoting RFC. If you want to have a section added to Wiki, it must be in a neutral point of view. I would post an example later on.

But that's how the game is promoted in the most easily-sourced material - the manual of Beyond the Sword.

I would source the BTS manual.

In fact, when I added those lines, I also added the page where I state and explain the fact that's based on the Robinson's projection.
http://rhye.civfanatics.net/pages/civ4-Earth-description.php
He instead deleted the reference. I wonder what other source he wants.

Whatever you add is fine to me. I just don't want to have less description than the other mods in BTS.

For the second most downloaded (?) mod off these forums, one sentence doesn't do RFC justice...
The actual Civfanatics site has a description of RFC, under BTS Info Center. Surely that could be a source?
Anyway, this is just ridiculous. Pretty funny though, I must say. Who would care if the map was based off Robinson's projection...?

Now that's just ridiculous. What else do you propose Rhye does? Hope he runs into an established wikipedia editor by chance?

That is stupid. You didn't do anything wrong. I think wikipedia should have a permission feature to contain that problem. That keeps it supported by more people but if the person who posted it doesn't want you to screw up his page he should be able to say no and the guy who wanted to edit the post can make his own post.
