While I think that most of the advisor's screens are very well executed, the Military Advisor's Screen does not give me a statistical breakdown nor an Inventory of my Army on the field, nor at home. I believe that this is a very important tool, if not vital, to have if one is trying to prepare and/or run a war campaign.

You know more information on the other civs when you have a spy in their capital.

Yes, Sealman, you do. However, its is VERY expansive and A TON of micromanagement. I second the ACD position. I put up a thread somewhere with a list of more things in want in the game in terms analysis. (Of course, I am a career Analyst, I want that sort of thing.

I think it's more valuable to make spying more effective and streamlined, rather than giving away more information for free.

I forgot who it was, but they had some great espionage suggestions. I think in the case of intelligence (information), it's good to treat it as a cost per turn. Depending on how much you spend, you get an update on a certain random percentage of that country's information. And this information is automatically displayed by your military advisor, even though it can be out of date if you're being too cheap with intelligence.

Maybe I am missing the point here. When I plant a spy, I can then look on my advisor screen and see what the AI civ has in the field. How many tanks, infantry, ect.

Isn't that what is being asked? It only costs me to plant the spy once (unless I fail).
