Improved City View

Really like what you did here! That being said, I really liked what EUI did with the production queue and unit/building/tile purchasing. Is there any way I can still have those while having your changes to the right side of the city view (specialist, wonders, etc)?

Well ... maybe there will be ... I am actually trying to do this already (see teaser shot for EUI in attachment - the extension to VP is then easy - the focus box and specialists boxes already exist, the funcionality of the manual specialists did already migrate as well, though I did yet manage to convince the specialists hiding in their buildings to also move... ;) ) It will for now most likely be limited to these features, so no building and wonder boxes for icons in the first iteration - some did not like these, and it also means less work for me for now, I may still consider that later.

I can however not promise a concrete date as it depends on my available time and how easily things go through.

Having an odd bug. I've tried some of the usual suspects when debugging -- deleting the cache, mod user data, etc -- and am fairly positive that I followed the instructions on installation correctly.

What happens is that the specialist window will vanish partway through playing a game. Minimizing or maximizing the bar that says "Specialists" in the city view will not reveal them. The city governor can still allocate specialists, but it vanishes for me.

It looks like this:

If anyone has an idea about fixing it, I'm all ears.

O.k. that sounds and looks odd - it is of course difficult to judge without further info. I did not do any serious bug fixing so far, what would be the best way of getting access to the data of the concrete case?

- which version of VP do you use and which of the improved city view mod
- which other mods
- can I get access to the save one way or the other to replicate the situation?

Sure thing.

I was using this version of the VP mod, 8/2, and this version of Improved City Viewer.

I was using "Historical Religions Edit," and JFD's Cultural Diversity + JFD's Exploration mod.

It takes a few turns for the specialist box to screw up.

I appreciate your time!

Downloading the Cultural Diversity soundtrack mod will be complicated where I currently am; anyway there seems to be a discrepancy between the screenshot and the mentioned city view mod - the one you point to should not have the EUI Prod. queue - am I missing something?

I could definitely have messed up, but I don't know what the source would have been.

I'll give it a shot next time I play and see if I can trace this back to user error. =)

Just high level, you either did use the version specific to EUI or you did not correctly remove the two files from VP´s 6a).../ folder (or there are other versions of these two files still active maybe from another mod)...

I've gone through and double checked everything. I am absolutely certain I am using the EUI-specific version (but I linked you the wrong one earlier), as well as EUI. I am deleting the correct files from VP's 6a folder. Same problem. Any ideas on a culprit?

Thanks for double-checking - I am going to have a look...

I actually managed to replicate the problem and to find the bug.

I just uploaded a new version - for me it solved the problem - please check it out and let me know.

Will do.

Very well. Thanks for letting me know.

The good thing is of course, since it does not break save games, you can always add it to a running game without any trouble (unless there is another conflicting mod of course).

I just added support for Japanese to all three versions, which also means that I had to slightly adjust the way some text is written in the added elements - in case there is something wrong now with either the specialist tooltip or the specialists box header - please let me know.

Just popping in to say thanks for your hard work. I really appreciate what you've made!
