Improvements to Final Frontier

I am currently working on a mod for Final Frontier, taking inspiration from the show Farscape, the Dominic Flandry books by Poul Anderson, and numerous other sci-fi sources. I was wondering what people would most like to see changed to Final Frontier. I am not asking for changes to the base game code, but things that just seem to detract from the game. (I am also going to use this to keep track of them for me.)

1. With the high defense ratings for PDS's, it makes using a varied fleet hard, becasue you have to load up on Invaision Ships. (Seriously, a Battleship should be able to knock out a tiny little defense ship by running into it, let alone a firefight.)
 
Think of PDS not as ships, but rather, as some kind of satellite defense grid, such system makes a lot more sense than the FF PDS.

Anyway, the PDS doesn't bother me.

What actually bothers me is the fact that in FF you only fight against other humans... I want to fight aliens. :nuke:

It does not both me either. However, I pictured PDS representing a number of ships designed for a combination of on-planet fighting and interplanetary fighting. Someone has to land on the planets to take them over, which a Battleship is not designed for.
 
Never thought of the PDS as defense grids and such, however, there will be separate units for that stuff. What I ment by them annying me isnt the ship, but how they basicly force you to fight a very hard war of attrition. A fresh battleship versus a fresh PDS (cant remember if also fortified) is even shots. Taking also into account the immense hammer difference, it becomes not worth it.

As to aliens, I wont be including any aliens, but there will be some, errr, *different* humans there.

Well, to be honest, I thought the same thing about PDS. They are fairly over powered. But, on the flip side, invasion ships can be too against anything else. OOOO I got it! Ok, make the PDS ship strong against Invasion ships and Invasion ships . That way, you have to diversify your fleet if you come up against a diverse defense fleet. BTW, if you make the PDS this way, increase its hitpoints so it can potentially stand up against other forces.

Maybe:
PDS +50% strength against Invasion ships

and maybe:
Fighter +25% strength against Defense Ships

and finally:
Invasion ships +(lower)% city attack?
