I think it harkens back to the classic rivalry of the Xmas Anime Avatars vs the Red Perfy Screw Christmas avatars.

I also think that the Santa hats are also meant to provoke the "OMG IT'S NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING YET!!!!" crowd

Silly Stereotypical American Jock, Denmark does not have mountains XD. If I went there, I'd be like "WHOH!! So many bikes it's not even funny". (I'm not a big skier, nor am I a bike rider. Never learned to ride a bike )
