Industrial Unit Graphics

Following on with the 19th Century theme, I've reworked some old Victorian-era British and Empire units with a fair number of new additions. I'm currently drawing their Asian and African adverseries.

Those are quite beautiful. I heard the sun never set on the British Empire because God didn't trust them in the dark..
With such military might and splendor I can understand why.

Perfidious Albion indeed. I've got to say I kinda like the Kipling adventure vibe of the Colonial 'small wars' while simultaneously being sickened by the subjugation and exploitation of 1/3 of the world's population by English upper-class arseholes ;)

I didn't know that the British Army in the mid of the 19th century used spiked helmets (Prussian Pickelhauben). I always thought they were only worn by German, mostly Prussian troops, during that time.

The units are looking great. Many thanks for sharing them with us.

Yeah it was par for the course for everyone else to copy the fashions of the dominant military power: most nations copied Freddy the Great's Prussian uniform style after the Seven Years war, everyone and their dog dressed in French kepis and frock coats in the mid-19th century and after the Prussians gave everyone an ass-whooping in the 1860's and 70's spikey helmets were the thing to have. Both Britain and the US adopted the pickelhaube-type helmet in this period. I guess no-one realises the British did this as whenever they fought in this period it was somewhere a bit sunny so they wore their tropical helmets on campaign.

But, since the, "sun never set on the British Empire," in that day, is it any surprise. :P

The exception to the rule was the Artillery, who has the "ball ornament" rather than the spike.

The 18th and 19th century Germany was a trendsetter in military fashion. :D
I wasn't aware of this fact.

No, from England, I'm pretty sure. The first automobile was from Germany, though.
Yes yes, Stephenson's Rocket was obviously the first. Civ2units was referring to the first unit I drew above - a German locomotive.

I can't remember if I posted this or not, but, just in case, a units graphics update to Boco's El Laurens scenario.

Just found these dashing chaps, 9th Illinois Company B Highlanders. They were among the hardest fighting Union troops during the Battle of Shiloh and 9th Illinois were among the regiments
that took the most casualties. I know company B is just a small piece of it, but I'd love to have these guys as a unit.
