Inevitable Conflict? A First World War AAR

Whooo! Kan! Keep killing Gerrie for me :goodjob:

I just spent 15 minutes reading the 4 updates I missed.

If I were in your position, I would consider avoiding a costly siege and taking of Berlin, and instead, attacking Leipzig to put more pressure on the Germans.

Just what an American would say. Luckily, we are British!

Love you :D

oh come one! Its Pinko Commies. Any American should know that. And with the Berlin thing, a push to Leipzig wouldn't be bad, but I would thrust the rapier into the heart of the German beast.
Just what an American would say
and what would that mean?

Russia is still under the rule of those good old sports the Tsars, not the evil oppressive Commies, is it not?

A pre-emptive strike, perhaps?

:D

Possibly, but keep in mind, Russia was a country of over 190 million people. While in Civ that would be different, it would have to be hard to maintain a serious campaign against the bastards.

nah hes already in 1918 so the commies are settin up shop already.

my dad always called em commie pinkos. but then again he was a senile old bastard decaying in a rocking chair wearing a red white and blue diaper with an m16 in his lap. "die you commie pinkos!!! <drool>"

He's up to Feb 1919 now actually!

The Tsars are still in control in the game though, as far as I can tell.

Is there an event in this game that could trigger a communist revolution? An event maybe that would trigger widespread war weariness that could lead to the Russians withdrawing from the war? (although I doubt the ai both german and russian could both agree to sign a peace treaty without taking vast amounts of territory)

Hey, remember, it was the U.S. who changed WWI into a more mobile war. We did supply other allied units, but for the most part, we DID win the war with our troops. we broke down the St. Mithiel Salient, helped the French break the Germans in the Argonne, crossed the Rhine, etc. and truth be told, the French supplied us more than we supplied them. The British barely gave us anything. They would promise us tanks, and we'd never get them.

If it takes 100 soliders to defeat a position, did the 100th soldier win the fight?

wouldnt it have been an entirely different world if the central powers and ottomans had won? no holocaust, no israel. no middle east conflict except perhaps between the ottomans and the british colonies. no serbian bloodbath (as the austro-hungarians would have undoubtedly consolidated that whole region). the rise of communism? mightve been negligable as they wouldnt have had any chance to prove themselves (in ww2). no cold war and no space race (at least until a decade or so later). crazy.

Funny. never thaught of that. at least not all of that. and I agree, had america not gotten involved, WWII wouldn't have started. But back then, they were thinking of only the present.

To be fair, there was no way of realising what would have come from the end of the first world war. I would think that the main mentality was that the inevitable conflict was over, nothing to worry about.

What might have come had the Germans won is another matter. Would it have resulted in a second world war of a totally different nature - a Soviet Russia taking advantage against western europe? No idea, but I love the theories.

And I apologise for the lack of updates, I have about a year played in advance, but my creative streak has gone :(
