I haven't been on lately because my folks thought I should go on a "nature visit." (stripped me of my electrical needs, NOOOO :'( )Bah they're back before the industrial revolution started so they don't know the cool stuff :P. But anyways the patch won't work with my civ 3, civ 3 alone will work with some tinkering, but with the patch, my comp almost blows up, so for the time being I have to work with waterz and the foriegn affairs dep on trades until I can get the comp figured out, I also heard of maybe some divert of funding from the CAP program to the DIIP program, the only funding I need is some cities to work with, most likely with a province out of the way with war, this DIIP will definetely have some return investmenty people, I hope you have Instant Messenger though waterz because Ii'm gonna have to talk to you a lot. But for my citizen groupies who might be reading this, for those who asked in it's ok, plus I need to update the members list in the group registry, I'm wearing a blindfold oh yipee.

Plus if there is anything else I missed during my "gone-time" and you want to catch me up, please post here

(breathes) boy that was a long message

You need the latest patch to open the game to examine the possibilities of trade. May I remind us of the Constitution:

Article E5 of the Constitution:
Trade Leader: Makes decisions and provides advice to the President on establishing trade deals. Tracks the status and expiration dates on established deals, advising the President and other council members of the same.
I'm not suggesting fephisto could not do a great job as Trade Leader. However, I'm afraid the Constitution article in this case is very important. If our Trade Leader is uncapable of performing their duties, for whatever reason, I think the quality of our game suffers.

I may be so bold as to suggest that as a requirement, each candidate in a Leadership election must be able to at least open the game, if not play it. Or, at the least, suggest a way they might otherwise perform their duties.

As a result, we are progressing with a Trade Leader who is incapable of suggesting trade deals and we have no other easy way around it. Right now, our Trade leader is only a critic on possible Trade deals anyone else may suggest - which is a fine responsibility for any citizen but the Trade Leader. Anyone who is capable of examining Trade possibilities, IMHO, would be a better candidate to be the Trade Leader. Unless fephisto can come up with some way to deal with the issue, I request a graceful resignation.

BTW, I am not suggesting fephisto would not necessarily make a poor Trade Leader, but only under the circumstances, I think we should have someone who is capable of performing the task.

You're correct, chiefpaco. Being able to get the save and review game progress is a necessary component of being a Leader. I might say at this Point that in a recent discussion with Civanator, I found out that he did not have access to the Game. Yet he still ran for Governor of Kashmir. I wouldn't doubt if this could be a fairly common practice and Leadership positions were taken by "chatters". So how should we address this situation?

Oh yeah me agree, I don't like it, but I understand, I'd rather waterz be trade leader.

Please be aware, fephisto, I am not calling you a chatter. You made an honest attempt to take a Leadership position. Your computer going hay-wire happened afterwards and this is not your fault. Please keep us informed about the status of yer puter so we can try to help you get it back up. I welcome your return to politics when it is again operational.

(thinkys I just said I understood...) I know you aren't saying anything bad to me (except me comp it deserves :hammer: ), but I'll put up my resignation soon, after I get waterz ready, and I merge my group and the spice traders group possibly.

Basically, we need a Trade leader to look at the game when it is available, write trade proposals for the citizens to debate, and post the results in the turn instructions thread. If fephisto or waterz think they can do this, please proceed. If not, I suggest we start the process of finding a new Trade Leader so the game can continue as smoothly as possible.

Well i wouldnt mind but we'll have to see if his puter works first. And will i have to appoint a deputy again if you do resign fephisto. If it does work after you have resigned i will certainly hand back the position, okay. But a notice for everyone i WILL be hard to get to as school starts on Tuesday, July 15th (Melbourne, Australia) because it is winter and I only get 2 weeks.

hehe.. Kind of hard to visualize winter in July, especially after being in the 90s last week, and this week (about 35-40 celcius, I guess).

'but the 15th is a Monday...' ;)

And like in the past few days ive drank lyk 5 litres of hot chocolate, and eaten 10kilos of Cadbury if you have that in the US (It's a chocolate). Too bad I start skool next week. I WISH I HAD THREE MONTHS!!! but we only get 6 weeks for summer
