Shall we launch quickly or seek a Cultural Victory or something else?

This is an informational poll.

As we are nearing the end of the game, I thought I would pose a question in the form of a poll concerning your feelings about the way the game should finish.

We are looking at two major options in the closing 50 - 100 years: The Interstellar Colonization Project (ICP) and a Cultural Victory. As far as the ICP goes, I can probably get us launched in about 30 turns. On the other hand, the latest results show a Cultural Victory in about 100 years.

So which do you prefer as a Phoenatican Citizen? Cultural or ICP? Please vote and comment also if you wish. Thank you.

This is an informational poll and will stay open for 3 days.

*YES - End it quickly - means launch in 30 turns (in other words, the second turn chat of the new Administration.)

*NO - Let's see a Cultural Victory - means we take our chances as far as how quickly we can achieve this type of Victory, which seems to be quickening as we speak

*ABSTAIN - Either way - means you have another idea (such as sometime in between) and you will post the idea below. (Or you just don't care.)

I fail to see how we can launch the spaceship in 15 turns. We are 6 techs away from knowing all spaceship parts, which is 24 turns minimum.

Lovro - You're absolutely right. I laid my head down on my pillow and realized that I looked at my figures wrong. I made some quick changes above, although I didn't use pinpoint accuracy. Sorry about that. I thought I could get back before anyone saw it. Luckily this was just an informational poll, huh?

Hmm, I'm trying to think of what the difference is between 30 turns and 100 years. Some help? Where is my converter?

Years 1750-1950 go 2 years per turn.

100 years = 50 turns.
Culture is in 1836, and the year is 1760.
38 turns until culture.
30-35 turns for space ship (given the 24 turns, and 5-10 turns it takes to build 1 spaceship part).

- PDX and Pherris can build the last few parts in 4 turns as it stands now. So, that's possibly 28 turns from now! (barring the fact that we don't adjust our economy due to a deficit or war)

I think that a cultural victory will come before the porjected completetion of the Space Ship. Every turn, we complete more and more cultural improvements, which brings the culture victory closer. Also, some of the older cultural improvements may turn 1,000 years old, which doubles the cultural yield.
Last turn chat, the projected year was 1840. It still might come closer

I think we should build all of the spaceship parts as they become available (no pre-building required), except for one of the smaller parts. The Storage/Supply unit, the Planetary Party Lounge, whatever. Just to be on the safe side. That way if we ever do want to launch in a hurry, it will be a snap. This will also give us plenty of time to achieve the Cultural Victory. I would even like to build the Strategic Missle Defense, if possible.

Let's try timing it so our spaceship is ready when the cultural victory kicks in. It is our destiny...

BTW, we have Apollo to tell us when the cultural victory will be acheived and there is a utility for converting turns to game years and visa-versa. It's in the utilities forum somewhere.

Ha! A poll on how the people want to end the game has 25 votes. The Presidential election has 50 votes and is still growing. Phoenatica politics....as crooked as ever...

Hehe. Here's a paraphrased quote from one of our local elections:
"[Our] politics are so skewed you could put a level on them and then do the limbo under it."

:lol:HAHAHA! That so funny, it hurts..
