This is an informational poll only, there is no antecedent discussion. The question is motivated by some questions raised in the "How are DPs selected" poll. The existance of this poll and its result should in no way be considered as invalidating that poll. If enough people see the results of this poll (assuming the results favor having multiple DPs as being interesting then some citizen may decide to push a motion to reconsider. ;)

Under what conditions would you want to be DP?
  • I would like to be a DP any time
  • I would like to be DP for an entire term, as President
  • I would like to be DP occasionally, when it falls to me in the CoC
  • I would like to be DP occasionally, as part of a pool of available players
  • Who, me? I wouldn't want to be DP
  • Other
  • Abstain

Again to repeat, this is only to find out who wants to be DP and under what conditions. The results should not be interpreted definitively any other way, but they may be used as a reason to take some other action.

This is multiple choice, and expert analysis of the results will follow. I promise not to inject bias, at least not consciously. :mischief:

My selections are based on not knowing in advance what my availability will be. If work is kind and I have lots of time on my hands, then I'd like to be President and be the primary DP. If work is rough and I have very little time, I would be willing to be in a pool of available players to handle schedule playing time slots.

DP? Not me. :D

Everyone seems to complain about Sir Donald's tenure due to slow movement, but nothing could beat Term 2 DG3 when then-President Zoi averaged about 5 turns per turnchat. And that was when I had time!

In my defense, there was a contentious War/Golden Age debate going on, but still. Thanks but no thanks, unless we allow private sessions. ;)

Other - No C3C so no dp. If I could play it would be rarely because I don't really like turn chats and I would play extremely slowly and make too many mistakes. I'd be happy being a DP offline.

I think this is more of a question of who can be the DP. The DP should be the president that is elected for 1 term, and any elected official who's under the CoC should it go to them.

No, that's another poll. This is specifically to find out who wants to be DP and under what circumstances.

I don't have a computer capable of running C3C atm, and I find the task quite mundane and time consuming.

I voted "Who, me?" and Other.

I enjoy Turn Chat Sessions too much to be tied down to the DP position. True, I always wanted to try it, but I guess if I REALLY wanted to do it, I would have accepted one of the Presidential Nominations in the last 5 DGs. I enjoy being an Advisor to the President, helping out where I can.

I also voted Other 'cause hey! I don't have C3C. Can't do it anyway.

And finally, sorry DS. If you wanted a poll that sought to find players that wanted to be DP, you should have polled for that. The way this poll is set up, it looks like you're fishing for support of your proposal. I understand your attempt at collecting info, I just think you went about it the wrong way. :)

Sorry, really. I meant to keep my mouth shut, it just.....happened. :(

I still feel the President should be the DP, after all they are the overall leader of our nation, with the overall responsibility of coordinating our efforts (explicitly or implicity), and where is that most apparent? - the role as DP, making sense of all those instructions to move our nation forward. If a Pres is not intending to be DP themselves (they don't have C3C for example) I would expect them to state as much at election time and name who will be their VP and hence the primary DP. The CoC should be there as backup. I've been DP in such a way myself and have handed the save back to the Pres when they did arrive - after all the Pres was elected to do that job, not me, I was just filling in.

You weren't around during the period of time in DG2 when I was all but refusing to play turns at all due to what I considered unacceptable lack of planning or discussion from the department leaders, were you? ;)

And to answer the poll question more accurately, I would not wish to be DP except as a last minute back-up. My availability to perform such duties is simply not consistent enough to allow me to do so on a regular basis.
