ini file not found

I'm trying to enable the logging but the config shortcut can not find the ini file, a search reveals it does not exist on my harddrive.

Any ideas?

Ok this is probably going to sound weird, but here goes.

I fixed my problem. After reinstalling several times in different areas and creating new user profiles I still wasn't getting the folder in "My Games".

I installed the game to my definetely inadequate laptop, it did it no problem, so I grabbed the folder out of "My Games" and pasted it in the relevant spot on my decent machine.

Have just been playing a game for 3 hours, no problems.

That happened to me before I had played the game for the first time. Afterwards, the .ini file was found, by default, in the following location :

C:\Documents and Settings\"User name"\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CivilizationIV.ini

Yeah, that's where it is supposed to be.

No matter what I tried it just wouldn't put it there, or anywhere. Did you do anything to make the file appear?

It was not there when I tried to edit the config BEFORE launching the game for the very first time. Afterwards, the .ini file just appeared by itself, at the default location I indicated (in my previous post). I did not have to do anything, except play the game at least once.

When I launched I got the "loading" splash screen for 1.5 seconds and then that was it. Understandable that it failed to launch with no ini file.

I'd suggest that your ini file was there somewhere, but the shortcut was not correct. Did you do a search for the ini file itself?

It is strange that the shortcut suddenly decided to find the .ini file by itself : I did nothing to guide it.
