Has anyone figured out the ideal one yet? I've been starting (playing on King) with 1-2 scouts - Monument/Warrior - Monument/Warrior/Slinger - Monument/Warrior/Slinger - (2x) Builder - Settler, but I've been really wanting to move the Builder earlier in the queue, but with the way barbarians wreak havoc I don't know if I can afford to have less than 2-3 extra military very early on. I'm in doubt if I should cut/postpone the 2nd scout, or if to postpone the Monument until after the Builder, or even the first Settler. What have you folks been trying?

Personally for a more or less peaceful game i tend to go Scout-Slinger-Builder-Settler and try to kill the nearest barb camp with the warrior (they are great against those spearmen defenders). I might even go Scout-Builder-Settler if i think i can have money to buy a Slinger and i plan to get an early Holy Site (after the first settler) for religion.
I don't build a monument for a while, instead i try to get inspirations on my way to Early Empire and Political Philosophy

I've been starting with slinger, scout. Unless on a large or huge map with continents or pangaea, I usually only build one scout. Next either another slinger or buidler. I try for the eureka for archery.
I haven't been building monument or granary til at least city size of 4 or 5. And I usually favor military over civilian units initially. I think its better to get some gold from barb camps or maybe try to take a city state or knock out another civ early, and if its within 30 or so turns, I think you can capture a city with 2 warriors and 2 archers
