I was having the same Initialization issues that so many people have posted. I have uninstalled Civ IV, reinstalled, applied the v 152 patch, and updated all drivers for directx and ATI. Still no joy.

The portion I am refering to is what olefarte wrote about running "Dxdiag"
I overlooked this before. I got Civ IV up and running now. It may help some of you to do the same.
