I recently purchased and installed a second hard drive, and wanted to reinstall Civ 4 and BtS to the new drive, so as to free up space on my first one. I uninstalled Civ 4 (I was intending to play a few months ago, but got distracted by other new, sparkly games, and never bothered to instal BtS), and now when I try to install to the new drive, I get the following error, "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

I'm running x64 XP with SP2.

Okay, I cleaned it, and got it installed, but now when I try to patch with 1.74, I get this error message:

"The setup has detected that version 1.09.000 of Sid Meier's Civilization IV is already installed.

The setup is not compatible with this version.

You will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version."

I'm using the Civilization Chronicles release, if that makes any difference.

Now that I've updated, and installed BtS, the game crashes when I try to open it, and I can't install the patch.

How does one use it? I can't get the instructions on the Microsoft website since the dude I bought this computer from decided he was too cheap to pay for a license, and only told me after I put all my important files on it.

I've located the redistributable version, but I don't know how to use it. It's a self extractor that unpacks a ton of files and I'm not sure it it wants me to put them somewhere special, or just use one specific one or what.
