Hi guys, I need help :/

I'm trying to install my recently purchased BNW from disc, but it keeps downloading instead.

This is what Steam says to do:

~ * ~

"Using Steam launch options to install retail games from disc

Log in to Steam and click on Library.
Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
Insert the first disc into your computer.
Close Steam (Steam > Exit).
Press Windows Key + R to open Run
In the Run window type:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.
Press OK. Steam will launch and ask you to sign in if you do not have your password saved. Your installation should continue from the disc. "

I've done each of these steps, but it's reverting back to a download rather than from disc.

Anyone got any ideas?

When a CD arrives at your place everything that was burned onto it is already some months old. Even if it allowed to install from CD, you would have to download tons of changed files in the end not saving much traffic at all.

Just deal with it; you gotta download (most) games nowadays even if the internet in your country is sh...shabby.

The thing is, even if I turn off automatic updates, it still has a huge update to perform. I understand that some patches are necessary, but I do not see why we should be forced into downloading them before we can actually play the game. This is a nonsensical process in my opinion.

As for my internet connection, there is no problem with it. I live in an urban area of England, I get decent speeds and good quality. What I can't be doing is waiting 5 hours for this thing to download when it could've been done in 5 minutes. This is the point where I could go into a huge rant about Steam, but I'm past caring now. As soon as I have BNW working I'll probably be avoiding Steam as much as possible.
