Installing W10 on a Samsung 950 PRO

HI. I'm about to start a new build using a ASRock H170 mobo that supports booting off of a NMVe M.2 drive. I've brought a Samsung 950 PRO and windows 10 on a DVD.

Not all of my components have arrived yet but I decided to read up about installing W10 on the M.2. It seems that everyone talks about using a USB to do the install on to the drive and now I'm worried that my DVD based W10 will not install on to the drive.

So does anyone know whether you can use the DVD or whether it HAS to be a USB?

If it is USB only how do I go about transferring the contents of the DVD to the USB? I don't want to buy windows again.....

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Presumably a dvd works, it's just not a very popular install method so nobody writes about it.

You can create a USB installer with the media creation tool from MS, just type in the code from the DVD box when it asks for it during install.

Ok thanks. Yeah only got the dvd as it was £10-15 cheaper. Oh well. Fingers crossed.

Installing from dvd should be functionally identical to USB, if somewhat slower - just get to the boot menu when the PC turns on and select the DVD drive.
