I found some interesting news on this website

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/12/17/news_6115293.html

for all you AoK lovers... check rumor nr. 5 at the bottom... for those to lazy to check the link... here is a copy

RUMOR #5: Microsoft-owned Ensemble Studios is preparing to announce Age of Empires III on Christmas Eve.

Source: The official Ensemble Studios Web site.

The official story: "We have no comment at this time."--Microsoft Spokesperson.

What we heard: Last week a stark, black-and-white splash page popped up on the Ensemble studios site. It read "The wait is almost over...2300 BC - Sargon I Unifies Sumeria." Three days later, it read "The wait is almost over...1200 BC - The Troyan War" in slightly larger letters. As of 4pm PST today, it read "THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER…1096 AD - The First Crusade" in LARGE letters. Seeing how the countdown is going about 1000 years a week, and assuming it will stop with the present day, it should one week from today--Christmas Eve. And since Ensemble Studios only makes two franchises--Age of Mythology and Age of Empires--the lack of deity-speak makes it a pretty safe bet the game they're announcing will be Age of Empires III.

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus--looks like real-time strategy fans get a nice Christmas surprise this year.

Hmm. I am intruiged. Though this should probably be in the games forum.

I heard the AoE III rumor about a month ago. It'll probably be Age of Sail through the Industrial Era. Other rumors I've read?

Several civilizations were already announced in the game.
AoE III is going to be "dumbed down".

Good God, YES! :goodjob:

when was the age of sail?

Columbus, Pirates, English vs. Spanish Armada.

It would probably go through the US Civil War (one of the wishes on this one forum I saw), America & French Revolutions, and WWI.

I'm guessing WWII might be a 4th "late industrial to modern/future" game.

I can't really imagine an Age of Empires set in modern times. It would be really intresting to see one o.o

we have all waited years for a new AOE game and if this is true then i hope its as good as the last 2 games, it would be a real dissapointmant if they make it into just an ok game with so-so gameplay like so many other games, i hope it comes with an editor if it does it will definatly be #1 :D
