internet games/patch 319 glitch

Backround info I play with vista and have the complete version of Civ IV( European version) I am new to this forum mainly registerd because I have problem with a patch glitch that I and my friend have.

When I try too play internet games it askes me to update to patch 319. And I already have that patch but for the sake of it I have tried to let it reupdate anyway the problem being is that it does not matter how many times I reupdate to 319 it still acts as if I don't have it and just says I need to update to 319 over and over again. My friend has the exact same problem

What can I do to fix this problem ?

Anyway help would be appreaciated

The issue here is, that you've downloaded the patch, but because of Vistas user account control, which doesn't allow modifications in the program files directory without admin rights, it got not patched.

Easy answer to fix the problem: Download it by hand (Link) and install it by hand, make sure that you have admin rights and that you execute the patch with admin rights.
