I don't think another countdown will be the hoped-for improvement in gameplay. In this game, I'm constantly being forced to do things, whether it's crises, age transitions, or even completing legacy paths. Since the last patch, the sandbox feeling has supposedly been brought back, but instead of simply turning off the crises, I now get six buttons to do so. Why can't I just play a civilization from start to finish? Which civilization has prepared itself for a change over the course of history? I have to quickly build a wonder or my timer will run out, I have to quickly train generals or my units will be gone, I have to quickly bring back all the treasure fleets, I'm running out of time! And then I'll become the French, or not? Please stop creating such forced gameplay and focus on offering a fluid gaming experience, because that's what makes a civ! Unfortunately, at the moment, it seems as if the constant patches are causing more problems with the gameplay than they are improving. For every fixed problem, two more follow. Immersion suffers more and more with each patch, and context is completely lost. In the end, we'll have a game with 1,000 customization options, but that unfortunately misses the point. Every previous Civ had fewer options to customize but more freedom to play.
